Favorite cockpit in VR?

What is your favorite cockpit in VR?
Why?

What cockpits do you dislike in VR?
Why?

Im about 3 weeks away from finding out for my damn self but i wanted to ask you guys how you felt about the different cockpits in VR because honestly....in 2d they all feel mostly the same. Since 2d lacks scale a sidewinders cockpit feels almost the same as a federal corvette. I cant wait to actually sit in the cockpita for the first time and get a sense of scale

All the cockpits are vastly different in VR.

I love the closeness of the Sidey and and the utilitarian look of the Asp and the Diamondbacks.

I don't much care for the flashy side panels in the Corvette. For me, a Corvette should have a matte-black plate-metal or ballistic cloth finish (ala the B2 Spirit etc), not a distracting black and silver scheme. Its too shiny for a military ship - it belongs on a FdL or a Cutter/Clipper. I still fly it though. :)

Courier, ImpEagle, and all the fighters except for the Taipan. The fighters in particular benefit from VR the most, particularly the imperial fighter which feels like a glove.

I just seen my Type 7 in VR and it's amazingly spaacious! The sidewinder wins the "Cozy" award, though...
Having been in a couple fighter cockpit I can confirm the feeling you get in the Eagle and I-Eagle is of a fighter jet. They are just WAAAAAY too big. :)

All in all it's the experience of "feeling" the cockpit close, the frame around you, and then "the rest" all out in the distance. An incredible feeling.

I never would have expected it but my favourite is my Type 7. It has a great field of view and really shows off the scale. When your in it you really feel like your flying a huge spaceship, something I never really appreciated before VR.

My Diamondback Explorer and my Imperial Courier are both fantastic. Love both of these cockpits.

Cockpits I dislike are the Keelback and Type 6 (possibly AspX and Type 7 and 9). I find the view is great, but the actual inside of the cockpits are very bland.

DBX, Eagle, Cobra MKIII but my all time favorite is the Python for its proper lo-fi feel in the cockpit - Can't be doing with all that bright white and bling on the Gutamaya ships.

The best cockpit I experienced until now is the Imperial Courier. It is pure luxury and high tech. I'm also falling in love with the Vulture it is large and spacious, offering a great visual and a sense of power. Not to mention the Anaconda's "bridge", total awesomeness
The worst cockpits until now are the Viper mkIII and mkIV. Soo spartan and rusty, I'd like to give them some painting. Also around the seating, on the floor there are dirt stains... well I dont want to immagine where they come from.... :x

But I still miss many ships. I'd like to experience the Clipper's cabin by eg.

Really, in VR nothing beats the view of T9. Nothing.
Great view, a lot of details, you can see seats under you and if you turn - you can feel how big the ship is. Behind you are corridors without doors and i have always the feeling that alien is right behind the seat :)
ASP view is also great but the cocpit is too simply ....

Each cockpit is just glorious - and oddly some of my least favourites are now the opposite. For example, I never got on with the adder because of the limited view - but somehow in VR it works brilliantly, and I feel like La Forge/Data off on another shuttle run, peeping out of those side windows. And the view from the conda works now thanks to the 3d of the huge bow stretching out in front of you. And fighter, SRV's... Still need to work my way through all of them - fun times.

Ah, the Adder. Yes I too hold some love for the 'VW Split Screen Van' of Space Travel. The cockpit is awesome in VR, I regularly use it for collecting small caches of goods for planetary surface missions. Mine is green in tribute to Red Dwarfs Starbug - as it also gives me that vibe due to the split window....

I like the Courier too. Looks great, excellent view, awesome sounds. It does sort of feel like i need a couple of cushions to sit on, like i'm too low down to see either side properly. I'm torn if it feels like a sci-fi fighter plane, or some chavy rich kid blinging up their ride.

Another very nice single-CMDR cockpit is the DBX. Completely different style than the Courier, but it makes me feel nostalgic like i'm chugging about in a JCB or a tractor ;)

Python is great for a side-by-side cockpit. Sort of plush (for DeLacy at least), but has a realism of comfortable utility. Decent views, great spatial feeling. Should be an awesome multi-crew bridge-cockpit.

Lastly, and this pains me... But i'm not a fan of the Cobra MK3 in VR. I love the ship to fly and game with, but the overhead and side views are poor, with an impression of being too enclosed. Yes it does sell being a smaller and cheaper ship, but i'd just like to see more.
The cockpit itself is nicely detailed. It's like a car maker's average car interior, say a Ford Mondeo, and looks like a real ship. You can see the Python is essentially the luxury version, which has much of the same details and design, but that ship is wrapped in leather and nicer edging.

I've not tried too many other ships, not super keen on the glass-bubbles, like the T6 / AspX etc.

Eagle and Courier. They feel like fighter jet cockpits.

Very much this and adding the Fdl.

And the Python. :D

I dislike everything Lakon because despite the view it's like being in a greenhouse with just glass and a workbench. It's far too dull.

Wow, that's a tough question as they are all so different in VR.
I was amazed at just how spacious and ope the Vulture feels. Once you've flown one in VR then you can understand how the cockpit always seems to get blown out in combat. It's just so big and open.
The T6 and the T7 (and the Keelback) are like towering atriums of glass (yes, I know that's probably the wrong plural), but the true monster is the T9. It is truly massive on a scale that dwarfs even the Corvette and the Cutter.

Gutamaya cockpits (of all sizes) are just places of esoteric beauty, clean lines and fine forms, with soft blue lighting.

Lakons are all functional and pretty feature neautral, though all have excellent visiility.

THe Sidewinder is "cosy" gut if you really want to feel the squeeze, switch into the SLF... Boy, oh boy are these cramped. There's barely even room to turn your head.

I like them all, minus the viper mk3 and 4.

I feel particularly comfortable inside the FAS / FGS and the Python. Also DBX and DBS looks amazing.

eagle and type 9 ... two extremes, both great.
but there are many great ones, Sidey, Vulture, Condor, Clipper, ...

Got into a Vulture for my first time just a few days ago, and I got to say it blew my mind coming from a Viper. But due to changes in work, I am now flying a Type 6. Love that in both you can see out the floor in front of you (i park a lot better now), but the extreme openness of the Lakon is very nice and enjoyable when truckin' or exploring.

I haven't really come across one I didn't like yet. The Vipers are a bit plain and utilitarian though but I still enjoy sitting in them. The Hauler was a quite a surprise to me. It feels like your own really neat little one seater haulage ship/taxi cab.

I do like the Lakons, especially the Type 6,7 and 9's. Love the Python too and the Anaconda, and the SLF's feel suitably compact and fighter like.

I prefer Core Dynamics cockpits, but the Federal Dropship is my favorite so far - coffee makers! However, I also like the Diamondback Explorer and the Sidewinder because they both have a lot of cool stuff in the cockpit.
