VR FOV bothering you? Here's a pro tip for instant immersion..

Wear a hoodie!

And I'm only half joking, it really works!

I was wearing a hoodie cos my flat is freezing when I forget to put the heating on, and popped my hood up to warm my ears - it instantly clicked - this 'no peripheral vision' thing is the view you have while nestling in a cosy hoodie!

Only downside is the cable, and I'm not quite at the point of cutting a hole in the back of my favourite sweater just yet, but I might if my boiler breaks down..

Hope the character creator includes them..

Nice idea, but what about summer? We have 40° here on summer and it lasts until September-October. Indeed I start to get very concerned about heat in my Oculus. Summer is coming!

Summer! hadn't thought of that.. perhaps some kind of fan system? Or a sweater-less hoodie? so.. just a "hood" I guess. or some kind of sack cloth would do.

I also note with interest zuckerberg testing my suggestion in the lab for the next gen of vr.

post a picture please [big grin]

I don't get it!
How is wearing a hoodie increases the FOV? We are talking about the horizontal FOV right?

You could just run the cable down your spine, under the sweater.

In fact i might try that tomorow, i live in Norway and we should be hitting -20c this weekend...

Same here in Oz - its summer now. Just make sure a fan is moving air past you - the Rift doesn't get hot exactly, but the foam does get warm to touch and a bit sticky due to sweat.

I have a ceiling fan right above me which on low is perfect - except when Touch games make me reach up... my study desk and VR play area is in an extension with a fairly low roof. You guys in basements will know what I mean.
I have had a couple of ermm... collisions, one involving some red stuff and many expletives. Touch controller was fine. :D

The VR FOV is simply the view seen through my space suit visor. It's not the best, but it keeps me breathing when my windows get shot out.

I also tuck my socks in between my toes. :)
