Long range exploration: payday ?

I'm on my way back from a long trip to Sag A* (not that long for most of you I guess :p) and I am slowly remembering about habited space. I forgot about credits, how much will I earn with such a trip ?

This was/is my first exploration experience and I read a lot of guides which helped me with the "what do I scan" question. I spent a lot of time hunting black holes and Neutron stars, found many of them !

So please share your experience, how much did it pay and how much did you enjoy it ?

It really depends on lots of things.

My first trip t sag A* made me 27 million - that was pre-engineers in a 38ly ship. I flew through the neutron fields on the way there and back, but not really farming them. I scanned ELW and some WW and the star while I was re-plotting every kly.

I recently flew there and back, giving passengers a go - I scanned every single neutron I used while manually plotting the next star, I honked the rest

~20m paid in exploration credits, + 98m from some rich fella...

^^ oh that's in a 54ly ASP so not as many systems as some folk!

That is a very respectable amount, I also scanned the ww and elw aswell as ammoniac. I won't lie, I did farm the Neutron field so I expect a good benefit.
Thanks for your answer ! o7

Also a very nice amount of credits, didn't expect as much ! Passengers seem to pay really well, will look into it when I come back !
(Haven't seen anything of the engineers or any 2.2 features, I really take my time out there :D)

Passengers do pay very well.

I wanted to haul some engineered modules out to Colonia for my Vulture that is already out there. I loaded them onto my conda and thought I may as well take a few missions as well. I looked at destinations and managed to get 4 missions on the line between the bubble and colonia worth a total of 170 million credits! I need to not get scanned which could be an issue in a conda that can't boost and has 5E thrusters... but I made it to Jaques fine so Just need to make it back now...

it really depends a lot on your scanning style.

when mainly travelling, i make aroud 11k CR/jumps on average.

when scanning main stars, waterworlds, ammonia worlds, earth-likes i make around 44k CR/jump on average.

when i was financing my first AspE by exploring in an adder, and scanned HMC and gasgiants, too, i was up to 50-80 k per jump.

and neutronfields are neutron fields.

since reaching elite i'm only scanning whatever catches my eye - very enjoyable!

Thank you for your precision, it is well-appreciated [up] ! Grats for your Elite rank !

Damn that's profit ! Best of luck o7 !

i seem to remember my first trips averaged out at around 10k per jump. that's scanning in a similar way to you; ELW, WW, Ammonia and a bit of neutron time.

enjoy the payday!

How much did it pay?
Too much.
I was trying to keep under the limit for Elite. I wanted to wait until the 2nd anniversary of release before getting my gold star.
I cut it too fine and did not realise that passenger rewards counted. Drat! I was three days early.
I think I made about 3 million over the 35 million I needed. I found a patch of virgin Neutron stars as well and that did not help.

One thing. Take a screenshot of your earnings before cashing in and one a few hours after. Sometimes the system is slow updating and it is too easy to lose count when the numbers flash past.
