3D glasses

I am a rift fanatic and spend most of the time playing with the DK- headset, but I have just ordered the trackIR for moments when I feel like a change. My new rig arrives next week and I am still in need of monitor. I am tempted to go for a 3D setup but haven't ever heard anyone mention this on the forums...

3D support is in game? Is it any good? Worth playing?

I have tried out the 3d and I think it's great ... you just need to make sure that the 3d monitor you get supports "side by side" .. not sure how it will compare to the rift though:)

also it was discussed here slightly LINK

Via a 3D TV ? Yes it's supported
I use the side by side mode on a 42" 3Dtv

Old school red/green is also supported
Along with rift and other 3D options

Nvidia 3d vision is supported?

From my knowledge No.

In the alpha when they introduced the 3D thing it was not supported.

I acutally have hardware, glasses, monitor but I never use it. I tested it one time in the alpha and it was not supported, dunno if they changed it after that.
And the game is not present in the Nvidia supported games 3D menu.

I found this 3D real hard to use in games. As some objects is renderd in 2D ,like nameplates etc, so its real hard to target things. So ive basiclay scraped this Nvidia 3D system.

Thx for the reply !

I'm asking because the only thing I need are glasses.... For the oculus I'm waiting for the final release so I thought that 3d could be a good temporary solution... (also because I found them for a cheap price)

..but it seems this is a bad idea

Perhaps Nvidia 3D will be supported when the game is released as it require that Nvidia them self make a support for it whit their 3D drivers, so its not on Frontiers table to fix it.

I had another try. I cant get it to work with the SBS, I get 2 side by side screens that I cant join together, but if I just enable nvidia 3d vision without sbs I do get a 3d effect..

Tried it on the asteroid field, Its not great, the stars actually feel in front of the asteroids. Weird graphical issues here and there. Depth isnt great.

Its not properly supported by nvidia.

Nvidia 3d works for me. I keep the depth quite low but I suspect that's because my eyes are used it it at the moment. Looks great, particularly viewing the space stations, it seems to add to the feeling for their massive size.

I just tried today and 3d vision doesn't work here. Well it works, I can see the 3d effect. The HUD holograms look great . But there are many things like lights in stations all in the wrong depth. The blue keyboard in the sidewinder on the left is doubled. The joystick hast a ghostly double image. And many more of those things.

I would say 3d vision is not supported at all.

But there's something about the official support or maybe for a future implementation of the 3d with glasses (with nvidia and others) from FD ?

Or what are actually the official supported methods?

I'm not sure. I haven't read anything official on 3d vision support anywhere.

But there are experimental 3d modes in already (oculus rift, anaglyph, Side by side). So there is 3d support, but not Nvidia 3d vision. My guess is, that FD would have to make changes to support it fully - but I can't guess how much work that would be. I'm hoping its not much and sooner or later 3d vision is in. But only the devs could tell.

For me its no priority though.
