2.3 Stream on [All 2.3 feature discussions here please.]

Eh... I knew that MC was going to be exactly what they showed in the stream. I'm disappointed, but not surprised.

At least the Holo-Me is good.

To sum things up: I'm ditching the turrets on my Cobra.

Multicrew looks class but two things come to mind
1 if a player is under attack can he still find a crew ?
2 there was a report button does that now mean combat loggers will be dealt with?

I have questions-

Why won't we be able to gain reputation as crew?

Why can't we share merits?

Can the pilot still deploy an SRV?

Does the ship name appear on the hull?

Will NPC's be able to have a "crew" and get the same extra energy pips and extra fighters? How will we know?

Can the crew interact at all with station services while docked?

Can crew plot routes?

Can crew target subsystems?

Multicrew could be fun when you're exploring in a group and want some fun or are looking for something on a planet surface.

On the other hand I'm not going to use it actively, I play mostly in solo or a private group so.
The whole MC thing is primarily orientated towards combat (again) and that's a bummer.
Besides the new camera suite, which is awesome, there's hardly anything there for either the individual player or explorers (again).
The HoloMe is very well made but at this point only realy of value to those who use multicrew.
Gameplay wise 2.3 looks quite meager, well besides combat then (again).

They said that the greatest deal hasn't been shown yet and various other stuff, I hope those will add some features everyone can look forward to and not only the combat peeps.

There are some cool things I've seen but somehow I feel a bit disappointed in what 2.3 turns out to be so far.
I'm not complaining just giving my opinion.

I wonder which ship kits will be added besides the Corvette, and how long we'll have to wait for them this time.

Third person combat in Elite...how disappointing to see the game reduced to this.

It's an arcade feature and more akin to Eve than Elite. I've no doubt it'll be popular... however briefly... just not for me. The Holo-Me is very well done with a lot of work put in by the team, but as an addition to a barely stable game with many problems, bugs and shallow gameplay as it stands, it's of limited value.

I'll wait and see what else pops up for the 2.3 release in the vain hope of something with a bit more depth gameplay wise, but so far for me...I'll be looking for something else to while away my time once Elite: 'Arcade' goes live.

Knowing Frontier, they'll be pretty good about listening to the community on suggestions about depth. I don't think third person has ruined it though- I see what you're trying to say. I too was expecting a more logical display for the gunner con, but I can't really think of a better way to do it. And I think it'll make that position more valuable to both the player in the seat as well as the pilot with someone being able to give the helm more situational awareness.

I had a lot of the same questions, though I wasn't able to completely focus on the stream... My opinions are,

#1: Seems silly to not be gaining/losing rep while engaged in rep +/- activities. Crew should gain as well.
#2: Same as #1.
#3: I would like to know the SRV mechanics as well... Can we launch two now if we have a crew of 3? Pilot and 2 drivers? We can launch 2 fighters now...
#4: I hope so, but I do not really care
#5: I would like if they did... but I don't think it would really matter either way based on how the NPC's have worked since launch...
#6: I could see some "grief" claims if your matchmade gunner decided to start spam selecting all mission at a dock... or fill cargo holds with junk... Though it would be nice if they could
#7: Basically same opinion for me here as #6. I think the best solution would be to let the pilot "authorize" certain functions for crew. That way you could allow trusted friends some options, and deny randoms...
#8: As they have control of the missiles, this would seem like a reasonable thing for the gunner to be able to do.

Hopefully we get legit answers sooner than later, but most of this will be sorted during the beta...

Crewe implementation is great. Gunner Camera View is just aweful. This must be removed and made the same as Turets in the SRV. Then allow them to change between Turets. I an hugely disappointed of this arcade crap!

For everyone scoring my opinion at home:

Holo-me: "sure, ok... groovy"
Multicrew: "MEH"
Ship name: "Noice!"
Camera suite: "F YEAH!!!"

Seems that multcrew will be almost exclusive to combat zones/RES's at the start. No rep gains for the crew, only the captain gets rewards from mission board turn-ins, can't use the SRV while in multicrew, etc. So unless people just want to sit around together while the captain makes money trading or exploring, lol, I bet we won't see many people using it. And they said it themselves, it's not intended for long-term career type gameplay, it's just an in an' out get some cobat action mode. Estatic about that camera suite, though.

Regrettably I must agree about the third person combat. It's a path of least resistance solution and seems to negate the lack of maneuverability of the larger ships, given that the gunner has 360 degree vision

It was more the fact that they are immune to countermeasures i.e. chaff allowing gunners to easily cover larger ships weak spot i.e. their rear!

Wadda you mean? Turrets are immune to Chaff? Is this already confirmed? I indeed saw some complaints on the General forums. But, i also thought that Frontier said that this was a pre-beta build, and that there are still tweaks and changes to be made..

ummm.. so... dragged myself away from Amazon ( looking at beard oil/combs [hehe] ) and decided to watch the 'stream, live'.

Well well well .....Glad I did, Personally I am happy with whats coming our way, third person camera view for the Gunner is a good idea from a situational awareness perspective ( see what I did there ?) IMHO.

Also super happy that Wing Mates who manage to get a hit on a target will get the FULL bounty, and not the current lower split percentage, whilst bounty hunting. I think this change will have a major positive cooperative impact on how allot of us who 'Wing Up', play this wonderful game.

ps,@ Ezren,....(You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Ezren again.)....
.... thanks for the 'play by play' thingy.

How long after 2.3 drops before these posts start to surface:

"In mah 'vette bounty hunting, request a random multi crew invite to operate my turrets.
This guy comes on and shoots up all the authority vessels before being kicked,
I get killed with a £20mil rebuy! Giv meh muh moneiz back FD!"

Almost guaranteed! [hehe]
