Multicrew Beyond Combat

The problem with MC is that they want you to play with other people, but instead they're making the Open harder for Solo players, forcing them to stay in Solo.

Please not again the "open will die" mentality, open players will stay in open, solo's in solo.
Some open players will go solo and the other way round if they have friends to cooperate with.
I don't see open die and I don't see all solo's changing to open. People are people and they will play how they enjoy it the most.

I guess with multi-crew mining what's the point? The player who owns the ship will get all the stuff, and the guys along for the mining ride probably wont come away with anything?
It's still worth thinking about some more though, a mothership sporting a bunch of "ship-launched mining vessels" could be fun if profit sharing became a thing.

i agree, some people doesn't seem to understand that nothing will change.

If you are getting hunted by a wing of ships, or a multicrew ship, its the same thing.. In fact, a wing of ships is much more dangerous.. EVERTHING a multi crew ship can do, can be done by a single CMDR as well, besides the extra pip, and 360 degree missile lock.

Open isn't more dangerous then it already is with MC.

Wing rewards are duplicated same as MC.

Only thing from the stream that made me say "cool", and it's because it's better than the original plan where only MC would be rewarded in such a manner. At least payouts are equal now.

Might actually encourage spontaneous wing-up now, as you won't get a smaller reward per kill.

Same. I'm also still salty about the Dolphin. But apparently that's just me.

I'm not saying something will die, I'm saying that MC won't change anythiìng.

As I wrote above, I was meaning that if FD wants to bring people on Open, this won't help.
They need to give a purpose to Solo and not Combat players to go in Open, not to the ones who are already there.

It's not true, however, that anything a mc ship can do,can be done by a single commander. MC ships have better power management and can deploy two fighters.
I agree they aren't more dangeros than wings though.

love the dolphin, the other 2 were to expensive and to big for my taste, im not going to accept 10 passenger missions simultaneously. The dolphin is perfect.

Engineer it lightweight, max jump, and 1 VIP, and 1, 15 million longrange sightseeing mission.. that is what i wanted.. Now i use the Clipper for that.. but soon, i can use a Dolphin for it.

I don't know . I play basically solo, in Open (never surrender!) but your only possible contact with other players at the moment, is basically fraught with danger .. either party will be sitting there, wondering if the other ship is going to open up on them any second. Most meetings with strangers are asymmetrical, ship wise, so one of the two sides usually avoids the other, unless brave.

With multi-crew you've got the other player where you can see them. You can protect yourself by going for legal activity only and they can't turn your guns on you .. so, after a first meeting, if you feel you can trust them, you can do a ship to ship meeting later with more confidence. So I actually think it's a good thing for Open play, has something of the 'match-maker' about it?

May I ask your problem with the Dolphin? For me it's the best part of 2.3 so far.

I'm just not a fan of passenger ship design. Also, 2.2 was focused on passenger aspect, and so came the beluga. 2.3 is combat focused with MC and to be honest I was expecting a new combat-ish ship. Not another passenger ship. If it were released at a later date I wouldn't mind. I just believe it should have been something else first.

Edit: plus, with more alien encounters on the horizon the least Fdev could do is release a new combat platform too. It's hard to believe that the Feds at a minimum wouldn't have developed something new. And given that both imperial and Feds have increased cap ship production- again it just seemed right for the release to be combat oriented. Just ill timing I believe.

I quite like the idea of mining with an external gunner manning the mining lasers and limpets, you could tear through asteroids far more quickly. BUT the poor gunner...what would his rewards be?

I think the same as you earn now if you trade in a wing. ....:S

Dont see what there is not to like about multi crew.

For sure i will be exploring other side of galaxy in my Asp when this update drops, now i can teleport back to bubble and actually learn combat in a ship i dont own and earn credits at the same time.

Its a win for everyone.

This is how I see it.

1. Multi-crew launches.
2. No one plays it because of too many glitches.
3. Multi-crew gets patched (insert obnoxious timeline)
4. People play multi-crew. Those that like it, dominate. Those that don't, will ignore it.

Some people will like it. Some people will not like it. I think if you don't try it, you can't knock it. If you tried it and don't like it, the game does not force you to play it.
