hi Kate, i was expecting a shameless plug of your book Mostly Harmless. On BBC Click today but to no avail. Or was you told by the producer you cant?:S
Most people would like Kate's job on Click which involves surfing the web and trying out all the latest apps on her impressive collection of smartphones. She has been a technology reporter since the mid-90s and started tinkering with computers aged 11, when she got addicted to her first game, Elite.
In her spare time Kate enjoys kick-boxing, creative writing and annoying her Twitter followers. She believes she has recently devised the perfect scientific formula for café latte.

If you want proof of how touchy a subject this is, Radio 4 recently featured David Bowie's new album & single, which he released on his 66th birthday. This was then mentioned on the news programmes, and the BBC received a flood of complaints for promoting David Bowie's new album.
The BBC have to be so careful what they let be broadcast, as has been mentioned, it would cost Kate her job (even if she is freelance) and her reputation if she was seen to promote ED via the BBC, and I think none of us would want that.
Actually, you'd be advised to always check multiple news sources to find the "true" story (or as true as it can be). I prefer BBC, but I also check out other international news 'zines if the topic is of more than passing interest to me.But as a government-funded body it is vitally important for the BBC to be impartial. And it has a huge amount of respect because of that too. I don't rely on any other news source than the BBC (okay, maybe Twitter too!) because of its reputation.

Maybe she can assassinate the DG?I wonder if Kate will have a reference to the Beeb in her book...?

Interesting. I have a few ideas about that myself.
