not everyone is a flying god, some love the relaxation of just going guide me in while I crack open another beer to classical music and DC's have been in game from the beginning why remove something that's in the game law?Just remove the feature all together... there is no need for these training wheels once you leave the training simulations. For the love of flying be a pilot already.
Well this is true, but you certainly don't improve if you don't actually take up the challenge of doing it.not everyone is a flying god, some love the relaxation of just going guide me in while I crack open another beer to classical music and DC's have been in game from the beginning why remove something that's in the game law?
agreed, never used one, may do just to see what the fuss is all about myself, seen vids on them but nothing like experiencing it yourself.Well this is true, but you certainly don't improve if you don't actually take up the challenge of doing it.
That said personally I'd be fine with this having its own special slot, it doesn't really affect anything.
Oh it's an experience all rightagreed, never used one, may do just to see what the fuss is all about myself, seen vids on them but nothing like experiencing it yourself.
being English no problems with black cab it's crazy Abdul in his clapped out mini cab doing warp speed down tiny back streets. Like I said I'll give it a goOh it's an experience all right
Ever been in a London cab going down tiny back roads at break-neck speeds? No? Well sit back and enjoy the simulation by the auto-dock[big grin] For best results, do it in a Sidey. Then laugh when you realise the auto dock has a real attitude problem as it slams you down on the pad.

If and when the docking stupidity of NPC's is sorted, maybe manual docking would be possible. And yet still pilots who can fly their trade ship and dock it without a DC are rewarded for their flight skill.

I have tried manually docking a few times only to have a NPC ram me in their hurry to get in, (for which I got fined), the same going out too.
Yet my DC can dock me flawlessly almost every time and personally, I'd prefer if it would undock me and take me out of the letterbox as well.
You are making a lot of 'Alternative facts' here. 'cause far more accidents then it saves' for example. Do you have any evidence for this claim or is it just something off of the top of your head? Which as your many statements on the subject shows us; your personal opinion is against using one. Then campaign for better NPC flight paths and fix the issue, not something that's a non-issue to indirectly resolve your problem.
As it happens I rarely have any issue with NPCs when docking. It's pretty foolproof if you stick to the speed limit and remember that the bigger ship has priority. If it were impossible to dock, I am very certain it would be a bigger thing on the forum right now, but even the vast majority of DC users will admit they use it out of laziness.
Given it's entirely optional in this case I don't see why we'd be entitled to it on all ships as default. It's been put forward enough, so I imagine FD are already adamant about it remaining optional, and given the DC can cause far more accidents than it saves it's the correct stance on that count too.
