SDC Presents: Operation Healies4Feelies

Considering your set of skills to bring the focus on problems and communicate them in a constructive way, I wonder why the UN hasn´t contacted you guys to defeat hunger the world yet.

Personally, I´m looking forward to the block player option.

Block player does one thing, stop the from entering your ship in multicrew and seeing their comms chatter... So Blocking someone will not stop anyone from killing you.

Could someone please briefly summarise what's in the linked video?

I'm in work so can't watch it yet, and most of the replies here so far have been typical forum knee-jerk triggering because something-something-SDC?

SDC describes a method how a wing of 3 or 4 players can camp inside a station and tank the station defenses easily. Reason is that the healing special effect is complete over powered.
Two ships heal each other. An other ship uses missiles or torpedoes to kill entering ships while the station fires at the two ships healing each other.

A good demonstration how the healing special effect is completely unbalanced.

Two FDL heal each other inside the station. The heal is so strong it overcomes the damage from station defenses. A third ship carrying torpedoes waits for a victim to enter the station and then fires trops to drop shields and some hull. The two FDLs, while still healing each other, turn their turrets on the unshielded victim and destroy them. Torp ship rams for good measure. Respawn torp ship, and repeat...all the while the two FDL heal indefinitely, completely unscathed.

That could be arranged. If we were the kind of player to kill newbies, we could camp eravate and slaughter sidewinders all day and block every single player that tries to stop us.

But SDC members don't kill newbies in starter systems, and we enjoy fights to the point where blocking people is a pain more than a blessing.

To which exact word I said in my post are you referring to?

Maybe I explain, so it´s easier to understand for you: For me, your believe that you had any influence on the change of heat meta aside from making a, imo ridiculous, event, is completely unfounded. Do you really think you were the only ones who recognized it? Do you really think FD was unaware? You´re doing the same here. Come on..

You know, there might be the best intentions behind your activities, make the game better aso, but couldn´t you, for a single moment, take a step back and accept that maybe your problems aren´t #1 on FDs list. You are ruining your good intentions with the attitude you choose to appear with. Share a little patience with all the others, who are waiting for much longer to see their features implemented.

Kreuzdonnerwetter, the whole last patch was about PvP.

Saw something similar going on in SD (JM) over the weekend, i wondered then just why the 2 ships were not being destroyed by the Stations weapons.......Now i know.

Seems a good way to get the message over to FD, that they have (Another) problem to deal with. I may well have had a different slant on this if i was one of the Cmdrs used innocently for these young pups test.

As you should! I think more people should be using the block feature. I reserve it for harassment but i think people should use it however the see fit!

Exactly. I'm surprised FDev never mentioned it before. It's a solution to ganking, which is what so many have begged for.

The problem is that the special effect from engineers are mostly game breaking unbalanced. The game would be better without any special effects - and a lot of players keep saying this since 2.1.
FD is unwilling to admit that 2.1 was mostly a disaster and an epic fail in terms of game balance.

SO yea, let SDC do what they apparently like to do. Show FD how broken their game is and push more players into Solo or Group mode - and showing FD how broken Open mode is. Guess, everybody wins that way.

2.1: RNGineered shields so strong Frontier have to buff station guns because Cutters can sit, alone, inside stations killing everyone.

Later in 2.1: RNGineered shields still so strong that Frontier have to buff station guns again because FdL's can sit outside the station, within the no fire zone, killing everyone.

2.2: RNGineered shields + Healing so strong that Frontier's twice-buffed station guns cannot stop FdL's sitting inside the station, killing everyone.

Meanwhile, in the main game, we have to fight each other with 2.0 guns with a modest +40% DPS, versus +400% defences (with g5 dirty speed), and that's without the healing. GG.

FDev, will you please consider doing at least three things:

(1) Get a real grip on the legion sources of effective hit point inflation introduced by 2.1, which include not just resistances and heavy duty booster stacking, but also buffed active bi-weave regen, HRP/MRP, g5 dirty drives and healing beams.

(2) Nerf healing.

(3) Give all Cmdrs station guns that we can fit onto our ships?

Thank you.

Haha love it...For the greater good & to show that Frontier never think anything through!

Also we appreciate the sacrifice of SDC members as they obviously only did this to demonstrate a flaw in game mechanics...definitely NOT just to find a new way to grief players for a laugh!

+1 for altruism

Made me think of this

What seems far more broken to me are the people involved in this.

And, no, that's not a thinly veiled insult - trust me, if I meant to insult anyone, it would be quite obvious.
I simply cannot fathom what would possess anyone to put the sort of time and effort required into do something like this. It serves no real purpose.

If anything, it illustrates a good reason for each station to be outfitted with such healing beams, and to lock them on to every ship as they enter, until they've landed, making this sort of behavior even more pointless than it already is. OR, force-deactivate ships' weapons systems once they enter the mail slot. Not a hard feat of programming, as there is absolutely no legitimate reason to engage weapons fire within the confines of a station.
