SDC Presents: Operation Healies4Feelies

You wish!

It was a suggestion. This thread´s reason is gone. But if you enjoy it, have fun. It would just be nice if you take some distance from the "we do it for the good of the (PvP or other)community" blah.

Does your mod job at reddit use your whole potential to solve problems in a proper manner? I can see it there, you are perfectly capeable to. For this story tho, 5% of it would be enough.

I have quite some trouble trying to understand what "Healies4Feelies" is supposed to mean :D

Clickbait purposes...hence why its not a bug report to bring it to the attention of those who can do something about it...

Its purpose is not to highlight an already known, and soon to be dealt with issue...the purpose of the thread plastered on DD is to garner negativity. A troll thread basically with a catchy title to draw the crowds in. Its very predictable...just like the group who made it ^

1. SDC initiates OP
2. People say thats not the right way to get it done
3. SDC redirects them to thread of them asking for nerfs and providing statements of broken game design months previously
4. SDC goes through with op
5. broken game mechanic gets nerfed
6. general public takes credit because they complained about it from getting killed

i feel like this is a reccuring theme with this community.

I'm not sure, griefing other players most definitely is the wrong way to go about getting something fixed.
Here's the thing, is the problem really that big? has there been an enormous amount of people using/misusing that thing that is complained about? I mean I was aware it was powerful but that's it, You'd think you'd see video's indicating its strength before it gets to this point.

That said Frontier DOES fix things when people bug it, SDC seems to be eager to take credit, because they made 'operations', and while yes it is entirely possible that it makes the fix higher priority, because now someone is actively abusing it to hinder other players, that doesn't mean it wasn't going to be fixed before, it simply didn't have as high priority? because it wasn't a big problem, but now dev time is going to be taken away to 'fix' it, and since that dev time is going to be rushed we end up with a game where we might as well have everything be the same, because the slightest advantage is going to be abused, where if it wasn't it might not even be a problem, and that's my main question, is this really a big must be fixed asap problem? Or is SDC simply looking for attention again, which is what it seems like...

Well.... that just happened. The Jesus beams are actually immortality buttons!? How long has this been so broken?

Thanks for the heads up I guess but could it not have been achieved without the mindless cull of your fellow players? All that was needed was to show two ships sit and shrug off the station blasts with their hands up in the air like they just don't care.

I first have to wonder, how many people are actually running around using healing beams? I'll wager it's probably a pretty low percentage.
Next off, while the video does show an extreme example of what can be done, I'm not seeing much in the lines of proposals as how to actually address the perceived problem.

I can, however, think of a few ways to address any actual real issues caused with things we already have.

Since people figured out that resistance stacking trumps MJ stacking. As it mentioned in the video, heal beams aren't affected by resistances, so they do full "damage" while incoming damage is reduced.

One flaw with the plan, FDev added reverb cascade effect on station guns last patch so you wont be able to keep the shields up even with bazillion healing beams due shield generators getting damaged and shutting off completely however you may try to keep them up by using afmus but personally i have never tried it so can not say how it will turn out.

Here's the thing though, when you are actually flying about and doing actual combat, you aren't going to be able to just 'sit and heal' like being done here, yes, in these situations it becomes absurd, but in actual usage, it needs to be powerful to actually function as a healing beam of any worth, now it will likely become worthless because people have found a scenario where they can abuse these facts.

but you're stopping me play my way!!!

I was in no way paid to post this to help StiTcH win at forum bingo...
I expect the cheque to be made out to cash ;)

Most people aren't paying attention, and most of the people on this forum are Solo or PvE players at best, where nothing about heal beams is useful.

So the healing beams are overpowered, they need to be balanced by FDEV. I guess that everyone can agree on that, and although it's an issue that only affects a small portion of the player base, it needs to be addressed.

But why should players that enjoy playing in open pay for it? Is this a trick to send more ppl to private/mobius/solo?

That seems like the best solution, I didn't know FD had patched this in though. Is it confirmed?
