SDC Presents: Operation Healies4Feelies

How is this a serious problem any more then this one specific scenario? once you are in actual combat, you are not just going to be sitting there and easily hitting people, and you will also get attacked and whatnot, so yeah.......this really isn't as big an issue as they make it up to, there's an abuse issue, but it can be fixed by upping stations?

This is how I know you don't PvP.

Entire wings bring huge beams to the fight on every ship, and because of the combination of this AND resistance stacking, you simply cannot do enough damage to kill any of them. This happens all the time. BBfA and 13th are notorious for this. It is a broken mechanic that needs to be fixed, because it entirely breaks wing PvP.

Now, you may think this isn't a big enough issue, and that is completely fine. The PvP community disagrees to the point that pretty much everyone I've talked to outside of those 2 groups wants them nerfed. The fact that we got 12+ Adle's Armada CMDRs to participate in what is essentially a joint operation with SDC should tell you all you need to know about that.

Ahh.. the old ones are the best. Let's compare PVP computer game and role playing behavior to the way people treat the elderly in their real lives. Yes that's fair.

#sethyperboletowarp9

Being elderly is not a disability. You can be 12 and a paraplegic.
But that's not the point you clearly missed, or I didn't communicate well.

What I was illustrating is that "fun" is subjective. And it doesn't matter if that's an in-character subjective or real-world subjective - it's still subjective.
Personally, I might not consider PvP to be all that fun (truth be told, I don't find PvP all that fun), but I could easily play a role where my character's perspective is that human vs. human conflict is the only reason to wake up.

SDC's way is to troll people until their complaints force FD to do something. The problems highlighted in the video are them abusing of a perfectly legal system currently in place to highlight a problem. While I'm not fond of SDC's tactics half the time, they do in fact find effective means of highlighting a serious problem.

Question, though. And I ask as I genuinely don't know. But are reverb cascade torpedoes *guaranteed* to bring down shields in one volley? If so, isn't that just as abusive as regen beams? One keeps shields at 100%, but another can drop the most powerful and buffed shields down 100% of the time. Kinda seems like the same thing. So if they need to tone down regen, they also need to tone down reverb cascade torps to make it so their probability of dropping shields drops based on the target shield's strength, requiring many more of them to, say, take down a Cutter with with prismatic shields and a ton of resistances. That seems only fair, right?

Perhaps the game is not the problem but the people playing it. If SDC were to defect over to Star Citizen, would they really be missed?

Torps are trivial to evade. Cascade torps travel at 150 m/s, so you can easily outrun them in any ship. The only people that get torped are people that aren't paying attention.

Okay, fair enough. I don't really PVP, so I'm not really clear on the current PVP metas. Mind you, if nothing else is done, stations absolutely do need to have some sort of way of guaranteeing they can bring down shields. Stations are supposed to be safe places and in no way should allow someone having shields strong enough, or healing beams strong enough, to tank a station's guns like this.

Yes, healing beams definitely need a nerf.
But they should also completely disable all ship weapons while in a station. Would help with this, and all future in-station exploits that are discovered.

Why don't ships with healing beams get a pointy hat and a long beard?
We should at least be able to spot the wizards.

P.S. Remove all weapon special effects. The are all silly.

I searched for this thread after seeing the video on youtube, as I'm subscribed to Rinzler's channel.

I'm not fan of ganking, but I have to give this operation a thumbs up for two reasons:
1. After someone dies, switch to solo if you want to avoid more pain while this campaign lasts. This campaign needs to be done because of #2...
2. Healing beams are massively out of whack and need to be fixed!

I have never used healing beams. I thought the concept was neat since the pre-engineers preview. However, I never expected it to be anywhere near this good. And this grossly over effective mod has been available since May/June of last year, and still hasn't been addressed! That both FDLs can just sit there and not be affected by the new super weapons on the station is... I don't have words for it.

You guys clearly got results from Operation Spicybois, so good luck with this one.

Disclaimer: I don't do PvP. I am not a member of the SDC. I'm not even a fan of SDC, other than Rinzler. In fact, most members of the SDC would laugh at my ship builds (all built for PVE endurance).

They would be clerics, silly, not wizards. They would need to have the holy symbol of their deity emblazoned on the ship.

I'd actually like to see a ship-based color spray weapon.

Simple fix just replace the station guns with thermal cascade cannons also add some for the blind spots...

Wish we had a SLF with healing beams :)

Excellent :)

Engineered weapons screwing up balancing? - Check!
Engineer side (magic) effects creating more balancing issues? - Check!
FD moving onto next shiney thing risking unbalancing things? - Check! Adding more pips for simply putting a bum in a spare seat?

I really do wonder how The Engineers got out of that meeting room in the state it's in!

So if I have all lasers on my ship and only one of them is a heal beam, I dont have to worry about hitting my buddy with the heal beam only? That was the reason I havent used them yet because I didnt want to have a separate weapon group just for the heal beam. May go mod one now.

edit: outstanding video by the way, If I had been flying into that station and seen the mayhem through the mail slot I probly would have reversed back out assuming the worst was going to happen if I went in.

Don't be daft... Add in another special effect that all CMDRs must have on their ships to counter balance the first imbalance!

Dam it. I'm so clueless when it comes to dungeons and dragons mechanics. :)

I'm more puzzled how certain people got in the meeting in the first place [haha]
