SDC Presents: Operation Healies4Feelies

Got any videos or such on this, but yeah that seems very high.

i understand it upsets you, and I can understand but.

1) If it has been here since 2.1 and people are still here playing, it clearly is not game 'breaking', it is annoying it is frustrating, but not breaking
2) if its been here since 2.1, why first the video now if it was such a 'breaking' problem?

So yeah, then add that we have no idea of their plans, we have no idea of their schedule, as we learned with 2.3 lives, they've had people dedicated working on some specific things, and again, it is a relatively small team, they are still hiring.

Is it frustrating, is it annoying, yes, and yes, heck yes.

But that doesn't mean they are lazy, and frankly I personally can't call people that when I don't know what the complexity of the problem is, or what they are busy doing. There can be plenty of solid reasons for it. Laziness does not even need to be involved when it comes to something as complex as Elite, again a complexity most people probably don't understand, which is fine, but that doesn't mean they are lazy. And there are several ways to keep prodding them about it without affecting any other in game player at all.

The game has massive game breaking flaws. When we try to highlight them and try to get them fixed by playing the game the way it was designed to be people still manage to complain about us.

What a surprise!

maybe rinzler should add some pandas with flowers and anniversary freckles to go easy on the soft little kids watching this very harsh video displaying poor CMDRS losing their little pixel spaceships.

Every video of engineered vessels using regeneration sequence shows this.

As I stated earlier, the damage you see is the regeneration you get; to the best of my knowledge and testing, it's 1 for 1. However, damage resistance only applies to hostile fire. So a ship with good resistance values, plus pips in sys will only take 1/5th of any non-absolute damage.

They were always like that. That explains both love they receive here, and the success of their "flagging".

But noone can deny that SDC did MUCH MORE TO THE GAME then things like mobious.... yeah they are bad guys who kill people but they want a better game , unlike some people that just want to suck every possible invincibility way, to live the game as GOD as ever...

Even though it's blatantly obvious that the right fix for this sort of mischief would be to disable all weapons in the no-fire zone, I'm pretty sure what's going to happen is what we saw done to missiles, and healing beams will be nerfed to the point where it takes a class 4 to heal up a sidey.

This garbage has been ongoing since the release of the engineers. Support already replied on reddit, healing is being nerfed in 2.3.

Cool video.

But you know - That's a tough gig to sustain.
You're running a 3 man OP that requires quite a bit of pre-rigging.
I guess as area denial it's pretty effective, so as long as there are stations that are popular enough. But I reckon you could burn out before Frontier move on this one.

Having been on the receiving end of Healing Lasers - they are like a godsend in battle.

I'm a pretty lousy combat pilot, and always get my face punched.
Most of my rebuys have been from NPCs. So when a team-mate heals me - its this upwelling of hope and camaraderie.
Really good for social connectivity. Really good for team building, really good for making friends, really good for a kiss and make up after a PvP.

So I kinda hope FDev let this one roll for a lot longer.
In fact I kinda hope they leave it in place for ever and healing lasers become much more popular because of your operation.

"Working as intended"

Oh well - I guess that's 'another successful SDC Operation'.

So let m e SUM up what you are saying... AS LONG AS I CAN EXPLOIT IT, it's "working as intended"

As long as it's bringing people together, it's a better mechanic than things like the Sothis get-rich-quick one-man-band stuff.

There are always some things that are OP, but this requires a bit of teamwork and I reckon that's a good thing.

I think this SDC op' is a demonstration of what's good about the mechanic. It might be OP for a slice of the community that have got gud at combat, but there's a lot of us that just aren't that great at combat. I spend my game time doing all sorts of stuff. I like that there are people who are able to finely tune their PvP ships and hone their skills. Once in a while I'll even spend a few rebuys giving PvP a bit of a shot.

But for those of us with lightly engineered ships, with a playstyle that doesn't involve CMDR hunting - Healing lasers are a godsend.

And if it takes a wing of 3 CMDRs to do an effective area denial - that's a good thing.

SDC just needs to make this kind of "proof of concept" video with its own members instead of shooting at random CMDRs. Sure, salt buckets will be emptier and all that, but the point will be made nonetheless.

I actually enjoyed that video OP, seems healing beams really are overpowered, in addition I loved how it seemed that one commander The_Grox, didn't seem to care and actually lol'd. Good PvP funtimes it looks like. That said, you uhh might wanna use a different robot voice for the intro, not to claim copycats but as far as Elite Dangerous with that specific robot voice is concerned... Blind Pew kinda has that locked down as "his thing". I mean there's no actual claim to it obviously and it's free to use, but considering I've watched SDC streams before for the PvP action over on Twitch, you guys don't seem to have an issue with using your actual voices, so why the robot voice anyways?

Anyways great vid and after seeing it I agree healing beams are overpowered. Forget people (aka babies) whining about overpowered shields (when cascade torpedoes and whatnot can instantly strip them), healing beams are outright broken when the station itself can't even kill FDL's just healing each other, who needs super shields when you have that level of healing power?

but the salt must flow.. a 3rd stage navigator has already been dispatched. [haha]

No the salt is needed because FD don't do anything until enough people are upset about their screwups

I disagree. Open play is Open for a reason, even Frontier have said so. There are going to be unwanted attacks in the galaxy, Open play demonstrates this and gives an extra feeling of the universe being "dangerous" (u c wut i did thar?). Those who don't want it or can't handle it have Mobius, their own private groups with friends, and solo play. If anything this is a heads up to Frontier to see that it's not super shields that are the problem (the suicide missile boat stripped that Corvette instantly of shields. Side note I loved the stock "yaaaaay" noise on each destroyed ship, added some comedy to it) but that it's healing beams, as the stations lasers are usually quite overpowered (even super 5000mj+ shields would die after a few moments inside the station versus those lasers), and that station couldn't do ANYTHING to the FDL's just healing each other.

I understand that, but some of the CMDRs they shot might not even be aware of the ridiculous power some of the mods grant. To them, they just got destroyed for no reason. I for one didn't know healing beams were that ridiculous. I've been playing the game for 450+ hours (which is a lot and not so much ?), and only started engineering my ship(s) last December. I'm beginning to realize how powerful some mods are. Because seeing videos and having first-hand experience are two completely different things. And I'm not talking about G5 mods. As soon as you get some decent G3 rolls (which are pretty easy to get), you really get an upper hand, at least in PvE.

Such videos are eye opener, but it's the delivery method that kind of stinks. The weird part is that I find it amusing, borderline epic. I'm the worst hypocrite :p

The problem is that if it was all done 'in house', people would accuse them making a biased and rigged video :/
