I'm sorry but I've been gone for awhile with moving and such but keeping up with some of the stuff going on with watching ObsidianAnt videos. Currently my ship is on the outer edge of the galaxy and I was just wondering is there a certain area in the galaxy that has these ruins or is it completely random? What should I be looking for? A certain type of planet? Thanks in advance,

If you have settlements (?) enabled in navigation filters, you will see them within 1000 Ls distance in your Nav Panel (after using ADS).
Look for HMC & Rocky planets/moons with 1000-2000 km radius.
I've not noticed a pattern or prerequisite however, There have been ruins found as much as 12k LY away from the original discoveries so, in theory, there could be thousands or, even 10's of thousands of sites...

To be more precise, there are over two dozen ruin systems currently known, but all but one of said systems are situated as clusters in one area, which appears to be conical. As a very curious exception, a lone system bearing alien ruins have been found in the Skaudai nebula, in the system Skaudai AM-B d14-138. No other such far systems have been found, at least to my knowledge, and the exact location of the Guardians' bubble is still unknown.

Though you'd get good odds on the (permit-locked) Regor Sector, which is right in the middle of the big cone of alien sites. Mais on ne sait jamais, as that guy from the asteroid said.
I had a brief wander around the Skaudai area where the remote ruins are and didn't see any more, and I've been keeping my eye on the nav panel for the last twenty kylies or so...

Are they mainly near Nebulas? Or just random all together?
