Here is footage of some development work on planets from 4:39 onwards. Again, just because there isn't a Gantt chart to read with milestone dates, don't assume nothing has or is being developed for the expansions. Some of the posts on this thread should get some people a good job in tabloid journalism![]()
What this thread needs is a poll![]()
My attention was immediately drawn to the words "depending on the level of success" in the newsletter. I don't recall ever having seen that caveat previously. I wonder why it was suddenly felt necessary?
Like many of threads in the forums, the speculation is an integral part

Maybe not posting in it will make it go away
The game is super niche, and it's the underdog right now of the two space sims, 3 if you want to get technical. Of course they are going to be worried/skeptical waiting to fight a uphill battle.
If anyone thinks what im saying is , well goodluck to you. Its a sandbox, it needs peripheral equipment to compete, its group orientated etc... all niche in the current themepark world.
no you are correct
also many space games popping up everywhere even with big names like Sony behind No Mans Sky, and small ones like Limit Theory players will spread out I dont need 10 space sims at the same time tbh, I have 5 on my HD right now. including Star Citizen, Paragon, Vendetta, Star Conflict and Eve... tons and tons of spaaaaaaaace stuff, lol

Multiplayer space games have been coming out and disappearing since 1988. The difference with FDev is that they have other, recent, modern titles bringing in revenue right now and they have an established IP/franchise to build on.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Warrior <-- note the original date (1988)
http://home.earthlink.net/~phreec/rwabout.html <-- 1997 - and it was fricking cool,
I realize that for most of you here, there's only Elite/Eve/X, but there have been a good 12+ other attempts to launch multiplayer space games in the last 20 years.

I despair at the negativity. Suddenly when we seem to be making solid progress and apparently on a very clear pathway to release with an improved playing experience we are besieged by doubters. The road map was always only walking around and landing. Now we are seeing articulated an expanded road map which must be dependent on the revenue stream generated, no business would do otherwise. If FD were in any doubt they would not be articulating the detail. The fact they are should be seen as very positive.

There have been a few threads on how to finance the game after launch. I was shocked at the naivety many displayed, assuming that the game would have been financed by the KS campaign, or that no other sources of financing other than box sales or expansion sales would be necessary.

Yeah, it's shocking that FD might have to put their hand in their own pocket!! It's not normal for a company to fund their own products now is it?

Does anyone except FD know the numbers that everyone else seems so confident about?Yeah, it's shocking that FD might have to put their hand in their own pocket!! It's not normal for a company to fund their own products now is it?
I think these are two different things. Most people I have seen assume that FD will honor their obligation to produce expansions. I think rarely anyone thinks they can be produced without source of financing and that KS money is enough.
