Its the ultimate prize...worth dying for so that others will come to cherish it...one always has to fight fer freedom...it is never freely given ^

Let me summarise so far:
Freedom is worth everything. Many have sacrificed for our freedom. We work to keep it so that others will come to cherish it (for yourself and others).

The Freedom exists only where the intelligence and the courage allow to bite on the fatality (Diderot)

The secret of the happiness is the freedom and the secret of the freedom is the courage (Pericles)

First you have to define freedom. Freedom for whom and to do what? I would say that in this modern world, freedom is a myth.

This forum is indeed full of wise people. Freedom is different for each individual. For me, playing all day or being able to travelling without needing to work is freedom.

Philosophical Question:

How much is freedom worth? Do we need to work for it?

Freedom is just a word for nothing left to loose.
I don't wanna be free.

The "freedom" other people talk about.....lol....it's just an Illusion! As long as their exist any kind of Law, no one will ever be free!

before we ask "what is freedom worth?"

we need to ask "what is freedom?"

everyone talks about it, but it can mean very different things.

freedom from "big government" (something many Americans are fond of) can mean that you lose freedoms elsewhere.

even in repressive regimes e.g. ISIS, there are people who choose to be there, who are happy that they have the freedom to throw gay people off a building, stone women who are "immodest" or burn "infidels". they are free to do things that are not allowed in other countries.

there are those that revel in their freedom to own and carry guns, just as there are those that like the freedom not to worry if an argument over a spilled beer will end in a shooting.

some value the freedom that comes with ready access to birth control and some value the ability to restrict access to birth control.

Freedom is the ability to make my own choices without others telling me Im wrong, or that I need to do this or that. Freedom is being able to smoke weed to control the pain of my illness without fear of prosecution and persecution. Freedom is being able to live free of judgement and control and living my life as I see fit, not how others think I should live.

Freedom means different things to different people...to me, freedom is a state of mind because one is never truly free. I have to abide laws I dont agree with, pay taxes, refrain from finding those I dont like and doing something I wont write...this is not freedom...this is living as free as its possible to be in this day and age while respecting the freedom of others. If there are those will not respect my freedoms, then I will not respect theirs...I am not someone with christian values, I will not merely turn the other cheek...I will fight fer what I believe is right...even if Im the only one who believes it. That is because I still have the freedom to choose, regardless of consequences it is still a choice.

!

Freedom is not a myth and is best defined as

1.
The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants.

2.
The state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.

Example:

Britain gained their freedom in the Brexit vote from the European Union (EU), a failed "oligarchy", a 'broken DICTATORSHIP' and its undemocratic nature was the main cause for driving Britain out of the exit door. The EU will not respect the will of the people and their new freedom and openly threaten to punish us, simply for leaving the corrupt EU. Makes you think if our country will ever rally to defend them ever again with their attitude towards us.
