No problem that otherwise, but I kinds of like to have boosting ability :D


Yeah, I'm going to test it before heading out. Boost can be life-saving when descent velocity is too high. Was planning to try a G5 engine focus on the 1D and see if it's sufficient.

it has never happened to me so far, but isnt it possible to essentially get trapped between stars on jump arrival and/or get knocked out of supercruise ?

800k+ Ly travelled, it has not gone down like that yet. I did get a bit of a heat rise from landing between a couple of stars a few times, but always got out with minimal damage, I don't have heat sinks.

I prefer to run as cool as possible by sticking to A grade goodies, and turning off un-used modules until I actually need them (SRV hangar & shields, XXXX-ample).

Looks like the 45 that my A-ranked and armed AspX has was a damn lucky FSD roll then xD Do you need 50+ in a single jump to get to places? Because I really don't want to strip down the ship :p
 
I wouldn't worry too much, @hunvagy. Mine is only around, I forget, 47ish? About 22 jumps to the Kylie, in any case; it's also quite heavily fitted. There aren't many places that need such a long jump range.

Need 50+ in single jump? No, not really :D - but a fun experiment nonetheless. But who knows, might some obscure day in the future head to fringes where such range + jumponium's a must have *shrug*

My build is pretty similar, with a 50ly full tank range. It's a good allround exploration build.

with some nifty power management i could trim off even more i think...replacing the 3a PP with a 3d (saving a total of 0.5t!)
it kind of depends on AFMU, havent used them much, but it would depend on if the module to be repaired has to be enabled

AFMU powers off the module it repairs anyway. So, never try to fix thrusters or FSD in supercruise :D

For what it's worth, my Asp Explorer has a 2A Power Plant with engineered overcharging. Gives me just a smidgeon more jump range. Still not quite as good as anikaiful - I think I can get to 55.0 absolute max. I might consider dropping from 5D to 4D thrusters, but that seems dodgy for high-G landings.
 
After seeing that video over in beta, I will not fly an exploration ship without being armed to the teeth anymore xD But I still have to max the weapon guys and some other engineers, I can probably make mine lighter, too. And will have to test what happens if I replace my 64t cargo rack with a 64t fuel tank. I know it does wonders for range :D

Overcharge a 2A powerplant and you'll get even lower weight. I got to 1.19t.
 
Very nice. My similarly-equipped AspX gets 50.36 full tank. Makes such a difference from pre-RNGineer trips at 32.05 full tank.
 
bought an ASPX again now! (sold my old one when getting my Python)

it currently does 49.99/53.5 but i ran out of Arsenic and Exceptional Datamined Wake Scans after 3 rolls
i installed 3D PP and 2D PD with G3 Engine Focus, got the boost to work again (nice trick, OP)
also tried to do ligthweight G1 hull mod (again,out of materials for anything higher), but didnt get any secondary effects that affected mass.
going to grind some more mats for FSD G5 mods tonight and more attempts at hull mass reduction

But my poor ASPX handles like a bathtub now, lol.
tl;dr need more materials and data scans

im gonna keep modding it and wait for 2.3 to hit live status and mod the DSS, then off i go into the dark.

i'll try with a 2A PP tonight as well
