YES! YES! YES! :)

Has anyone actually got some hard figures of the time taken for DSS Fast Scan? Mats required?

You'll never get it, because you refuse to understand.

Its not that difficult to understand. You want more stuff, you dont get more stuff. And at that point you and some other explorers become full-blown petulant. But hey, dont mind me. Feel more than welcome to huddle together and cry how sad you are, how evil everything is, how nothing is good enough and everyone else is always favored. :)

Yep that's us all over, you should join, we've got jackets.

Im easy enough with anything at this minute in time...my biggest issue with exploration was the whole beige issue. I got an answer...not exactlly the answer I wanted, but an answer nonetheless which is more than having nothing. Glass half full and all that jazz :D

That being said, its hardly a headline piece of content, and does nothing to address the nature of the mechanics themselves...just makes it easier to try and justify it as an actual career.

A mere taste of what one had hoped against hope for...

But not gonna be rude and not at least acknowledge the effort...its still a sweet taste ^

Beta thread poster has a DSS grade 5 reduce their scan time by 70%

Although module weight went up, they did manage to reduce sensors veiny dwn and made a gain in overall jump range too.

70% drop in scan time?? Was that a fluke roll or is that within the standard range for G5? a 70% drop in scan time is HUGE!

So a 3 hour round trip with passengers...elite status by any chance? Would guess they will cut that...thats too big. Wouldnt take specific numbers like that too seriously...thats why its a beta after all, iron out the worst of the kinks. 70% aint a kink, its a glitch in the matrix ^

At 5500 systems visited, that alone would have saved me considerable time.

Saved you time to do what? More scans?

(Sorry, being devil's advocate here. If it were saving me time to do other cool exploration things, then yeah, great, but we don't have other cool exploration things :()

Nice. No more 80t sensors and faster scans to boot.

What engineer does them at G5? They didn't do something ridiculous like only give them to Jameson did they?

I once checked how many jumps I've made in total. Then I assumed the hyperspace animation takes 30s, and calculated how much I've been staring at it. That was a sobering and depressing moment.

Yeah, not really *rejoice* territory. When our scanners can narrow down the locations of the "mysterious things", and geological features, so we don't have to randomly eyeball planets for hours at a time.....then I shall rejoice.

Indeed, when the whole Exploration experience plays out more like a "mini-game", that is truly fun & engaging, then I truly shall rejoice.

My favorite kind of upgrade. Fresh from the garbage heap of Free to Play games that inspired it:

Make something so time consuming/frustrating/boring that its borderline useless. Then, make the community grind just to make it tolerable to use! They'll call it an upgrade.

Calling this an upgrade is like paying extra to have the fourth spark plug put into your four cylinder motor in your brand new car before you buy it - and then thanking the dealership for the bargain...

I did the same, and became so downtrodden and depressed by it, that I havent played the game since. And now I tend to look at anything more than a 5 jump play session as pure, 100% wasted time.

I have never viewed gaming as a time waster. No more than watching TV or other popular entertainment. Because mostly when I play, I am, well, PLAYING.

But Elite has for me turned into basically a Loading Screen simulator. And it the netcode changes dont fix it in this release, I dont know if I will be able to make myself go back.

Unfortunately....yeah.

Frontier loves to troll us explorers!!!!!

That said though, if I absolutely have to, I'll grind out that combat rank to get Lori unlocked just to improve my exploration game experience. Hamsters in a wheel and maze and all that...

Or a game in the Elite series, where combat rank is the center of the game. Where not a single person in the lore was 'elite in exploration', which wasnt even a thing at all, and all cmdrs of renown where elite in combat. Which is why in this game your combat rank is shown to others, and not the rank of your choice.

Its not trolling explorers. You're playing a game where combat is very much at the heart of the game.

I'm actually not. Maybe you are, but I most certainly am not! My combat rank is just a means to an end, nothing more!!! [big grin]
