[Suggestion] FSD booster module

  • FSD booster module available in ship outfitting
  • Class 0, rated E to A (0E, 0D,...0A), similar to Shield Boosters
  • Jump range increased depending on module rating by 5% up to 25% (0E -> 5%, 0A -> 25%), cummulative
  • Weight and power consumption similar to Shield Boosters
  • Fits only in military slots

Detailed summary

Some of the military ships and especially the Federal Corvette and Imperial Cutter suffer a bit from a lack of jump range for a ship this size and the purpose of military patrol/interdiction ships. Instead of artifically adapting the jump range of ships, I think it would be nice to have the option available in the ship outfitting to use FSD boosters, similar to Shield Boosters, to increase the versatility of ships a bit. Not only would military ships benefit from this, trading and exploration vessels would also profit from these modules.

To prevent a huge increase by stacking a large number of these modules, they should only fit into military slots, which would limit their number to a (more or less) reasonable number. A player would have to make a choice if he wants a higher jump range, a reinforment package or a shield cell bank or another defensive module in the military slot(s).

Non-Horizon players would also get the chance for a small increase in jump range outside the engineers.
 
I like it we need something for some ships. Type 9 and the very expensive federal corvet . It seems a little unfair the conda has twice the jump range of the corvett

Corvette is massive, though bare bones you'd think it could get to 40-50 range. I'm more upset with the passenger liners. A set of ships specifically designed for long distance travel, with one of the ships having a higher FSD and they still can't even match the Conda. Much less surpass it.

Maybe Frontier is worried about increasing the jump range?
 
The annie has always been way over buffed in many areas. It's not the top ship anymore but just try to balance the ship down and the howling will be heard all the way to the core.
 
we just need another 8 - 10 on the range, we don't need it to match conda. getting to the ancient ruins must be a nightmare in a corvette never mind the new bubble or 22000+ lys
