Trip to Beagle Point - crossing The Abyss - any advice....?

Thanks for all the help guys
I'll try for the SVENNA route
If anything noteworthy happens from a range/travel point of view I'll post it here
Cheers

Still at Jaques! :)

I'm in Melbourne for the tennis - got tickets to the Men's Final next week
Can't start the trip to Beagle until I get back home

Well I'm now only 2.5K from BP and have ended up using Smugglers Path.

I've wandered slightly off from the original (due to having a slightly better jump range) but it's been very easy (so far).

No jumponium and only using scoopable stars.

I'll hopefully arrive on Friday (8-11pm in-game time) so hopefully bump into some fellow CMDRs.

Jump back and forth between two systems...

Heh... I thought it would be probably something like that...
I was hoping I'd missed something, and that there was some simple way of jettisoning fuel, just like cargo

(in fact, there ought to be a 'limiter' that you could optionally apply to the fuel scoop, so that it cuts out when it reaches a nominated tonnage of fuel... )

Well done, Cdr!
When you get there, be sure to post a picture!

I'm a long way away - here in the real world we had a heat wave (in Australia) and the combination of high temps and dust inside the case managed to fry a component on the motherboard.
Kept getting the BSOD a few minutes after booting up...

Anyhow, I've rebuilt my way back out of the stone age, reinstalled and back in the cockpit.
I'm heading for Lone Star, about 37,000 lys away, then I'm going to make my way across the Abyss.
I like to dawdle around, checking out likely systems as I go, so it's going to take over a month from here
(I tend to travel in 1000ly chunks per session, then log out and attend to the real world.....) :)

Fly safe!

I'm currently 9,864 Ly from Beagle Point, in an AspEx with a 40.1 jump range, I was g
As to read above that (using the '0') I can go straight up from Colonia to Beagle Point, this was and is my intent and I can't wait to land at my destination this weekend. I have to take a night off tomorrow night, not from Elite, but from my main account, and use my second account to practice landings with my new hotas! I was given a Warthog as a Birthday present and decided to learn it and the new bindings via a long trip...so I went from Sol - Colonia - Sag A - Great Annihilator - then right up to the roof - back down and then back to Colonia, picked up a 2nd AFMU...and carried on...and I'm nearly there. .my ambition since joining the game in March 2015.. anything I should know about landing there Cmdrs???? Safe travels to everyone o7

I left a few Hutton Mugs and some Mega Gin out there for when you arrive, if you end up at the Distant Worlds end point.

Any of those routes are fine, or, just do what I did and roll your own as you go. You may hit a dead end or two, though, really, you learn to grasp distances by eye pretty quickly, and you only dead end yourself once or twice before you figure out how to make a good long range plan beyond the plotted routes.

Besides, it also means you'll tag a bunch of your own systems, and likely make interesting new finds. I found a route with a 37LY anaconda between Svenno's and Smuggler's fairly easily.

And seriously, finding your own way is part of the fun!

Z...

I tried finding my way on the way back from BP in the DWE. I spent weeks trying to cross and all I did was get myself mad. I did a LOT of back and forth trying one route after another. I didn't have Horizons at the time and my FSD range was 32LY I think. I had almost found a route across, but the next closest star was 33LY. I cursed the screen a lot then.... lol
Now with a ship that has a 50LY jump range, I'm going to try my own way again!

50ly ship isnt really going to give a challenge crossing the Abyss, you can go over anywhere you like, plot 1000ly route and just jump away.

I've been in Beagle point before, your jump range should make the abyss crossing relatively fine, just in case, take one of the routes that some peers showed here, you don't want to have to make a detour at the last moment.

That must hurt.
