Perk for Prem beta

Because not every company operates perfectly and never makes mistakes?

Indeed they do, and I am not throwing my toys out of the pram over it, but just making my thoughts heard.

As for the guy who suggested the no voters are sour Alpha backers trying to protect their advantage.

Personally I disagree. I didnt vote due to the heavy bias in the poll and the fact that it was too limited (not to mention not really seeing the point of it)

BUT, IF I had to vote, as a premium beta I would vote no

It's a little bit pay to win then right? I want equal start so I would never hear someone say 'but you only pay half insurrance'. I don't even think I will start in a Cobra III in the final game. I 'invested' in ED for the game have a chance te become reality, not to have perks. I'm fine with cosmetic gifts but any perks that make playing easier I see as cheating.

It can be any type of perk, am sure people would appreciate it, as they say is the thought that matter :)

Frontier chose to give Alphas the insurance discount. If Frontier gives Premium Betas or Standard Betas (you know they're going to chime in if Premiums get a discount) too because people complained then it's not truly a gift. You say it's the thought that matters but that doesn't apply if you're trying to encourage them to give you something. The original post reads like a demand to be thanked. That's more than a little rude, in my opinion.

I understand wanting a discount if you didn't buy Alpha and I don't have a problem with Frontier giving one to Premium and Standard Betas. Allowing people to buy the 50% discount would be fine with me. In any case, I think your "suggestion" could have been worded another way.

Wondering how many Alphas upgraded because of the insurance and how many others that didn't upgrade thought that they could get a discount for free by holding out and complaining later.

I *do* care about this, but as a PB I'm not voting... however:

The PB 'perk should be the removal of the ridiculously unbalanced 50% insurance discount for Alpha. :p

If it's no big deal, then remove it. If it *is* a big deal, then it's unbalancing.

Alphas should get more, they paid more.
Quite right, and they did! They got exclusive access starting in December 2013. Betas had to wait half a year past the supposed start date of PB.

Personally, I don't want a perk that no-one else gets.

That said if a metal key-ring falls into my DBOBE (all reverence to his sensible attire) signed prem boxed edition, then I won't complain.

I don't like the Alpha insurance .. it's a huge bonus, but it's been done.

As to the kickstarter Starting options being a cheat or even pay2win is a very funny concept to me.

Those that say they want to start on a level playing field is all fine and dandy, good on 'em, but that "Level playing field" will only ever exist on day one of the Gamma release (barring some monumental bug) .. by day 2 anyone who didn't play on day one will be at a disadvantage - and so they should be .. some people wont even play the Gamma, as they are waiting for retail release .. those people are going to be at a massive disadvantage - should we be reset again to "Make it fair" to those players ? .. what about those that are going to wait until planetary landings come in ..... you see where I am going.

"There is no level playing field" *Picture Keanu Reeves looking intense, but ultimately stupid* .. it's pretty easy :D

It could be seen as pay to win IF the people buying the alpha at the time knew they were going to get this perk. Quite a lot of them didn't know they would get it, didn't agree with it or want it. So they hardly payed to win.

A perk would be nice but not essential. The perk that might be useful to FD is one where PB backers are given a trial period to using vanity items that are on show to other players like having a design painted on the ship so that other players might think that they would like something similar and pay for it. That way not all the ships will look identical from the start and could make more money for FD in that new players may pay extra for something that they may not have bought and also from PB players who might want to keep their vanity item that they wouldn't have initially bothered with.

I think nobody should have a permanent perk like this that isn't merely cosmetic, but since that option wasn't there I voted only Alphas should have the insurance cheat as it limits the amount of people with it.

This. They could maybe have gotten a fancy ship or something, but not a permanent real advantage. 50% is a lot!

It's purely from my perspective, I would consider myself as cheating the game. What others do with their perks is fine with me. I just want to play the game without any bonus from being a backer. Even so, the alpha group is so small, even when you are totally in multiplayer, that would not have any effect on your own game. I'm doing this for myself, I will be soloing in a multiplayer universe (if possible) or team playing and I will get there without crutches :D

Personally, I think the insurance perk for Alpha was an error - most Alphans didn't want it.

What I'd really like to see is, for the remainder of Premium Beta, more polls and solicitations for feedback by the developers. The low download overhead mechanism is in place for daily experiments with basic mechanics (turrets, heating/stealth, supercruise, interdiction etc), all of which could use refinement before more eyecandy is added in.

Like the 50% less insurance perk for alpha accounts please give another perk for Prem beta, it would be a thanks for the backers who have helped in building this game and you would make some extra money as well.

Asking for a perk isn't a good idea, at no point did any of the Alpha backers demand a perk for the work they done but FD gave Alpha testers something anyway, I guess that with Premium beta costing £150 FD may do something, but just because one group of testers got a perk doesn't mean that Beta testers should be entitled to something.

if I was you, I would just accept that nothing is going to be offered and if nothing turns up at the end of beta you wont be disappointed, but if they do offer something be grateful that FD said thanks.

I don't like the alpha perks, a little to much p2w for me (giving any advantage for real money over someone that does not pay is P2W to me). Gives alpha backers cheaper ships and less costly combat.

So as a PB, I really don't know what to say, while I dislike the idea of cheaper insurance for real money, at this point it is done, and I don't want to be at a disadvantage (even if it is very small) At this point we have no idea what the cost will end up, the Dev have just said they want people to take going in combat seriously, but then they make that cost less for alpha backers so....

Voted No as an upgraded Premium beta member. (Originally bought standard beta but wanted to have an earlier peek)

Well I'm PB and voted no as well - I do think that Mobius has said it best though!
You know one thing that would be cool though - if everyone that was involved in alpha, premium beta and beta got a single decal as a thanks - but that's up to Frontier in the end.

No perks. Actually...removing the perks from alpha players too makes more sense...muhahahah :D

And ED is one of the very rare projects where if something like the above happened the vast majority of Alpha Backers would support it too..o_O

ps: Now imagine removing LTI from SC backers.
