I agree. In fact, they should remove all violence from the game. I mean come on, THINK OF THE CHILDREN! Replace all the lasers with water canons and make multicanons shoot flower peddals. Conflicts will be decided by hugging contests. Also, no more "conflict zones", the word "conflict" triggers some people. Rename these to "Party Zones" please and put party hats on all combat ships.

I strongly object to that. You can break ribs with hugging contests. This would encourage broken ribs on every playground in Rwanda.

Is it worse to dehumanise people in order to justify treating them badly or to be fully aware that you're treating people badly but do it anyway?

Wars happen all the time, but war itself isn't illegal. The reasons for a war can be illegal (war crimes). A war of extermination where opponents are referred to as vermin is and has been found to be illegal. Full stop. So now in this game we have wars where the opponents are described as vermin, and people are OK with that. But in the game we'd never allow opponents to be described as, well, use your imaginations but let's say racially, sexually "different" than the prevalent culture.

It's just something I wonder about.

Random murder and piracy are very illegal in the real world.

So let me get this straight: you have no problems with killing computer-generated characters that have never existed in the real world, but we shouldn't call them names while we're doing it? Ok...

What about slavery?

No problems there?

What about selling vast quantities of Narcotics? Or selling food to millions/billions of people in famine for 10x the rate? Or 10x markup on basic medicine?

No moral qualms with that?

How about supporting planet-wide dictatorships? Nothing bad ever happens in a dictatorship right?

There are tons of morally wrong things that happen in this game.

Don't worry, OP. What with Telpresance, those ships you blew up were probably piloted by holograms and the pilots safe in a station remote controlling them from across the galaxy.

Because no one is getting hurt in a game. But when games begin to normalize terms like "vermin" to describe opponents, where does it end?

Just wanted to say, Im cool with vast quantities of narcotics...not sure how much profit Id make, but one has to enjoy the little things, right?

1:- It is a game.
2:- The 'vermin' in questions are not humans; they are pixels.
3:- The de-humanisation of any target just makes it easier to kill them. It makes it more acceptable to the human psyche.
4:- If you are going down the 'lets all be politically correct' path; then don't play a game where murder is rewarded and encouraged. I would suggest something like candy crush, but watching those other collections of pixels being 'eliminated', may be too harsh for you.

It ends there.... A WWII shooter normalizes terms like: or Hitler and it ends there because it's in the game.
