Where's the love for big ship owners and their rebuys?

Hello guys,

As the thread suggests. I have been doing a lot of friendly PvP. Problem is... I have no rebuys for my Corvette, Dropship, FDL and Cutter (went specific here to avoid bandwagons)! Since 17 Draconis is getting the nerf bat (including massacre stacking), and Sothis, Ceos and Robigo are not really good for big ship owners. Where could big ship owners go to regain rebuys, without spending months just to lose all of it in 1 or 2 days? I'm just confused on where to go, since any popular place gets nerfed anyway. Exploring is not really my thing, since 70m for 30,000 LY is a bit insane. If FD could explain what they are trying to do with the mission system, then that would be great. [downcast]

Many thanks,

CMDR StarfireIX

NOTE: Just because I do PvP, doesn't mean people should discriminate about it and hop on a bandwagon. Please be nice.
NOTE2: By big ship owners, I mean those who have incredibly high rebuys. If I have a ship that has a rebuy of 6m CR, then this thread wouldn't have existed. I want to be able to rely on a profession that has a decent amount of CR for less amount of time.

PvP in something else?

Honestly, I don't understand PvP in ED. You gain nothing from it. Lol

My Anacondas rebuy is sat at 12m CR a pop right now.
I only have 99m CR, so if I'm already flying below my preferred 10x rebuy.

Hopefully the missions offered won't change just the amount that we can accept. It should still be entirely feasible to stack 4 high paying Elite missions in the 10-20+ mill range each quickly covering even the highest rebuys. So I am not too worried.

PVP in fighters? Vulture and below? Just a suggestion from a player who is useless at pvp and not into meta builds for such occasions. My closest experience was dark souls. When i played pvp with fun / silly builds, I got beat down almost every time. So I created a meta build and low and behold I started winning. Unfortunately being forced into specific builds and min maxing took the diversity and joy out of it. Hence not venturing into elites pvp community.

Looks like the 'hardcorepvper' need to go learn how to play the game. There are many ways to make good coin, go and find some.

Well that was unnecessarily disrespectful.

OP: I would sell enough ships to cover one ship re-buy for a big ship, or multiple re-buy's for a smaller ship. Then I'd go bounty hunting. Jump into a hiRES and just tag along behind the police for easy money and easy kills. Or wing up with mates and just do a few evenings of it; you'll be amazed how much money you can make from dedicated BH'ing.
To begin though, I would definitely sell some ships off. You don't need them all, and flying without re-buy is just crazy and unnecessarily risky.

Hello guys,

As the name suggests. I'm a hardcore PvPer and I've been doing a lot of friendly matches, whether it is to the death or to shields/50% hull. Problem is... I have no rebuys for my Corvette! Exploring is not my thing, since 70m for 30,000 LY is a bit insane. Should I just sell my big ships and imagine they were never in the game? I don't know what to do, anymore. [downcast]

Don't rely solely on exploitable systems to get cash. Play the game and earn your ship/rebuy, every so often. There are hundreds of thousands of people who just play the game as intended without feeling lost/confused/defeated. You can earn 10/20ml Cr. per hour with relative ease doing tourist missions. Play CQC with your hardcore PvP pals.

Few options

Provided that I'm allied with most factions in a given system, I can make my corvette rebuy with a few delivery missions that won't take longer than an hour or a one shot sight seeing mission that is also less than hour. The methods to make money the legit way and quickly are already there.

I am also a hardcore PvPer and I earn around 5m-10m cr/h with regular grinding. In case small outposts in the outer ring of the bubble are viable, this easily goes up to 50m cr/h.

There are always highs and lows. I usually have a dry phase in the lows as it is inefficient to grind there and put some effort in the highs and get around 300m-500m credits which is roughly 10 hours of grind. Enough to keep me alive through the dry phases.

So in case you want to go full efficient: Just wait or get your Draconis bonds now. :p

You simply don't understand PvP in general. It has nothing to do with ED. The whole point of PvP is to measure yourself against someone else. It's like playing a board game or a competitive sport. You do it because it's enjoyable to do it, not because you hate it but there's a carrot at the end. You do it because it's the only bit of content that will keep surprising you and be different each time.

Do a lot of high rank assassination missions, at my level I earn 1-2 Milions in my FDL, I know it's a medium ship but I guess your level is far higher than mine if you are going around in corvette, so you should have no problem in earning enough for rebuys, if you can't find rewarding missions try to trade

I have a big ship too . 'Conda rebuy 29 mill, sure that is not explicitly fun but I will survive easily. OP, your problem is you gained riches without the "long game" , we the long gamers have trade networks , are allied numerous places with minor factios, and major, so it is easy to make 8 -50 mill/ hour just playing "legit" , with no insta wealth 'sploits. Most of the Cmdr's who have played since Beta, has consistently warned on this problem.
Go play the game, get a smaller ship and accept a lower payout in the start and you will be ok.
Remember you can have as much fun in a Sidey as in a Cutter (and far less worries :) )

Cheers Cmdr's

ED attempts to portray a plausible future (within the SciFi settings of the game). You are free to blow up ships as often as you like but far from reducing costs the insurance should be increasing them IMO. Crash 10 Ferraris in a month and see how it affects your excess ;) (and I doubt the PF would be too pleased paying your premium as well

And this is all well and good but its unfair to expect to gut the non PvP game imo

Yeah - you'll have your Corvette's rebuy back in a few years, no problem. [yesnod]

Cargo-hauling missions can also get 10-20 MCr an hour for mostly single-hop work, if you pick a system which offers a lot of them, get allied with all the locals, and try to keep as many of the factions as possible in Boom. (Ideally you want something like a Refinery system, which has exactly one Industrial or High-Tech system within 15LY, and that system only has one station ... but you may have to compromise a bit)

Go back to the systems were you were rank grinding to get your vette, store your scb's, hull reinforcements etc put in some cargo racks and stack some biowaste cargo runs.
