A small adventure for everyone

Originator: DRX Command Team
Mission Type: Exploration / ing Around
Codename: Top of the World

DRX is proud to be hosting an open mission: Top of the world.

The mission is very simple - to alleviate boredom of explorers and other Commanders whilst waiting for the next major ship systems update, the long awaited 2.3 download.

We are going to follow in the footsteps of some great explorers by climbing Mount Nevermore in the Nervi System on the evening of Saturday 18th March 3303.

There is no requirement to join DRX - this is an open session for anyone who wants to join in. There will be laughs, peril, drama and explosions!

We will meet up in Open at Nervi 3A, co-ordinates 23.2532, 111.8817
(Cmdrs Furtive Pygmy, Hated Nightfall, Jackie Silver, and Robert Todd led the first expedition from these co-ordinates )

The majority of DRX commanders will be on site from 9PM UTC, but as usual with our endeavours timings are pretty irrelevant and we expect Commanders to begin making their way to the summit whenever they are ready, particularly for those operating from different timezones. It may be possible to find Commanders from base to summit throughout the night.

We advise bringing a small ship with two SRVs (always have a spare) and briefly dock at a nearby starport before landing on Mt. Nevermore. This will save time should you become a smoking hole in the ground and wish to re-start…....

There is no sign-up sheet, no commitment to anything other than your sense of fun. See you on the slopes!

Sounds fun.

I am not sure if I will make it back to Deciat to offload my exploration data in time, as I am already way over 2k Ly from my starting system and it would be shame to give up before reaching 5k. I hope to make it back in time for the event.

Umm, mind sharing what's this all about?
Not very informative that black text on black background...

Well, those colours work with almost all of the possibilities. Ho Hum. I'll beat the publishers with a big stick later.

We'd expect Commanders to just show up whenever and find others all over the mountain in various states of disrepair.

My Alt-CMDR, Hated Nightfall, is running a Keelback XE deep in NGC7822 but I can easily pull the Keelback out of its first test run and swing back to the system for this! Now that Frontier have nerfed the bug which saw us all drift off into space once we passed the OC line on Mount Nerverest, it is a tempting adventure.

We attempted a first summit a couple of months ago after the nerf but were beaten to it.

I should add CMDR Furtive Pygmy first discovered this beast and was part of the first summit attempt (the doomed one!). The one that saw my AspX explode on auto-pilot, leaving me stranded on the mountainside - BEFORE we drifted off into orbit in the SRVs. Good times . . .

Because not everyone could see it and the discussion about formatting has taken over a thread about getting together and having a laugh.

This is the final Forum call - several of us are attempting to climb Mount Nevermore on Nervi 3A tonight at 9PM UTC. Feel free to join in! Bring an SRV and we'll see if we can get a conga line to the top... Co-ordinates are in post#1

The expedition went as expected.... we had a few dozen commanders all on the mountain at the same time. When I say 'on', I mean in close proximity... some climbing, some stuck, some plummeting... Many died. The mountain is brutal.

Its a long way to the top...
