Multicrew = Splitscreen

Cheers everyone!

I know, nowadays Splitscreen multiplayer has become more of a niché, but I'm still in love with it, playing with friends online is nothing compared to sitting on a couch next to each other.

Multicrew would be the perfect opportunity to implement Splitscreen multiplayer, having some kind of easy drop-in drop-out local multiplayer, with friends picking up SLF or turrets if need be.

It is a good idia but some ships don't have the capability of multi crew as far as I've seen eg. Sidewinder, hauler and eagle

Otherwise that is a great idia

Ummm, no, it's not a good idea. We don't need developer time wasted on arcade/couch game mechanics. This is Elite.

The problem with Splitscreen multiplayer isn't that it's become unpopular (if anything, its decline in AAA gaming has made people want it more) - it's that doing 2-4 times the amount of graphical rendering as normal has gone from tricky to basically impossible.

It's also an issue because a "drop-in-drop-out" local multiplayer might be hard to jibe with existing Elite accounts, which IIRC are also threaded through XBox Live, which is a whole other bag of problems.

Something I'd like to see, but I could imagine it being really hard to just throw in.

This is arcade at now, so splitscreen will be fine.

In my opinion current multicrew version is a perfect example of splitscrin/console gamestyle of late 90'.

Remember this idea not going to work because 1 system will be running it. It will also have to control both controllers or keyboards.

A lot of times when someone comes to your house they have their own laptop and their own setup. So they have their own screen.
