Are we talking about Prism?

My T9 was interdicted there last night.
Not much came of it though.
I dumped enough chaff to make space look like a Disco Revival festival and then legged-it.

XI-2 Lupi, unfortunately. But we'll get you next time, Gadget... ;)

Still can't rep you yet! But sounds fun, you said you were turning Pirate soon, didn't realize you meant it! Yaaarrr!

Well this is so much fun that it's going to become a regular activity. I'll be sure to let you know when we're in pirate mode :)

What do you think, is this T6 build sufficient to escape an onslaught of a wing of human pirates? I am currently flying such setup:

Thanks for answers from professional pirates :)

Heck yeah! It will certainly protect you from insta-kill warning shots. That would be a fun T-6 to pirate :D

But see, it's a failed build because you sacrificed like 10T of cargo space and 2 Ly jump range for survivability :)

Really, thanks a lot StiTch, this is all a very helpful advice - I will certainly do the engineering tweaks to improve my survivability further :) I went for the MRP, as one of the two times I was successfully interdicted (out of maybe 12 attempts in the last CGs) by pirates I had my thrusters shot out and had to give up cargo.

Vindelanos: Yep, I am quite hard to catch/get, but I never feel very safe or confident once pirates are around, so far all interdictions were single, so I don't know how I would fare against a wing. However, once I see I am outmatched I cooperate :)

If you're new to engineering, I highly recommend visiting Lei Cheung. His base is called Trader's Rest for a reason - he mods shields and shield boosters, and is pretty easily unlockable by working with The Dweller

See, you may just be right about this. As a kind of ex-pirate myself I just never really took out thrusters, but only because most pirates have a tolerance on how many times they're willing to deal with "the trail of loot". Ultimately if it works, it works ;)

Trading build?

If they were your typical "trading build" (=lightweight unmodded armour, D-rated from the cellar to the roof, shields measured in hundreds of kilojoules,...) they are really a two-shot kills for decently modified gun.

I do not condone piracy, but I wouldn't blame them for "accidental kills". It's an ill-prepared ship that kills you more often than your opponent.
I once accidentally rammed a T9 in a Courier and they just blew up. I mean, come on, people. Are you building your ships out of paper? :D

.....A trader with shields? ... :( :( b..but, but that would take away space for cargo! *unthinkable!:eek::eek:

Actually, I am by no means a stats guy, but on the surface it doesn't sound like a terrible idea - thrusters are the main target usually, and at the cost of 4T of cargo you get some extra protection there. So between the chaff to protect his shields (assuming the pirate is gimballed), reinforced thrusters, and the PD to take out hatch breakers, it would be a heck of a fun chase.

Nobody gets killed!

You just gave them a quick trip back to wherever it was they last docked, and relieved them of their cargo.

Stop biggin' it up for DRAMA!

Semantics. Whether it's "killed" or "respawned", folks (especially casual traders) tend not to enjoy it, so no reason to do it unless it's necessary.

*edit*

Also, this thread has brought to light folks who have shown enthusiasm for proper pirating, all of whom I'll be extending a personal invite to.

Are you inviting us to get pirated.

Gosh, the things pirates can come up with, these days.
"Come to Tortuga. We have cookies and rollercoasters." :p

My only question was around whether a pirate would shoot thrusters out. Now, I have no doubt they will, but from experience I stopped doing it very quickly and focused on methods that keep them still ;)

It does make a lot of sense though. After thrusters I started on shooting FSD out at speed, and hey, that's still a module.

I have nothing against a good pirate, props to you OP for being such a good sport.
But don't get mistaken, if i ever see you in game prepare for a fight ;)

*edited*

Looking forward to it... but careful, I might be playing a "good" guy that day :)

Aww, I miss all the fun!

No one ever tries to pirate me.
I just end up being target practice. Lol

Apparently most of them need more practice, because I escape unharmed 99% of the time. :D

I suppose it would help if i could actually keep my internet working long enough to play in Open, and actually play on weekends though... :p
