Planetary landings on planets with atmospheres

It would be such an addition to the game if you could land on planets with atmospheres. You could collect materials and sell them or mine on the planets. Landing on a water world with some sort of Submarine that goes into the SRV bay, and looking at creatures and plants under water.

Like Thunderbird 2? THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!!! Great idia and i completely agree

Full planetary landing is the plan. It's just not easy to create whole, believable worlds using algorithms. They can't hand craft all of them so it's going to take time to deliver.

I never miss a chance to show this picture:

I love the idea. But let us learn from other companies mistakes. So give Frontier Time so they can do it right.

I'm looking forward too it.
But here is an awful lot to do.

I mean you have the atmospheric flight system, the terrain, and not just a heightmap, it'll need weathering too, then water, fauna, weather, lighting effects, ambient sounds, and then gameplay added in too.
Plus loads i probably forgot. Lol

I reckon we'll get lifeless atmospheric planets first. Like Mars, then maybe something with gas giants, then more complex. And ELWs with animals and trees and whatnot will be last.

I reckon a lot of people are waiting for this to fully embark on exploration excursions. I hope that FDEV continues to work toward this, but ensures that it is done right. Procedural generation of this scale is a massive task.

Presumably - this proposal, without which the game developers do not think to add such content into the game ? Really ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmg4WmYGHy0 - This was done on the game engine 4 years ago. Hmm... Anniversary, by the way.

Also, at that time, already had a good clouds editor. The only reason why the atmospheric planets has not yet added into the game - is that the developers want to make the content better as possible, up to the rank of ELITE.
Physics for liquids (freezing of water on the glass when you take off into space after exiting from the storm clouds, ocean waves and coastal surf, a slow slide of lava and transience of streams and rivers), flora, fauna, the behavior of objects in the atmosphere, atmospheric effects (rain, snow, wind, entering the dense layers of the atmosphere) - all this requires long and laborious work.
