That is technically already the chase. You can get beluga and soon to be released Dolphin for a small price of €24.99.

Followed immediately by a slew of fanboy threads explaining why its okay for Braben to implement ships you buy for real world money in elite, but star citizen is still the devils spawn for doing this.

So what you are saying is that those graphic designers and artists making the shipkits etc should start to learn programming?

Personally I think those guys are doing fine work in their current jobs...

Go ahead! You want cosmetics over improved gameplay don't let me stop you. Would make way more sense anyway considering the amount of screenshots explorers make.

No, but they could invest some of the money from the apparently popular pirate skins and actually putting them into developing piracy, or powerplay and exploration for that matter, instead of just selling us on the "idea" of piracy.

Actually its a well known fact that one of the first departments to finish work in a development team is the art department. This is why while the rest of the team are still finishing up they are often creating cosmetic release day DLC. So i doubt they used valuable development time on it.
