FD: incompetent? Neglectful? Or exactly right?

Let me apologize out the gate for the title but I wanted to cover all the bases.
I like ED - I really do - and spend much time with it (more then any other game ever) but am not unaware of my personal issues with it.

I was poodling about in my T9 this morning performing a public service runnings meds to a Outbreak system. Trading in a T9 gives one a few moments to ponder.

Everyone, or so it seems here with the .2% of the fanbase, has issues with ED and it's direction of development or perhaps lack of develeopment. I, as a Solo player, certainly do as the bulk of Dev time seems to be spent with major items that do nothing for me. The only thing that could be considered close for me is planetary landings and SRV use which seems to be only partially completed - to be generous.

But the one thing makes me wonder about what FD is doing: the server data.
Does FD know exactly what the player base wants - and is delivering?
Does FD know exactly what the player base wants - and is ignoring it and doesn't care?
Or am I totally off-base here about server data?

What I mean by server data is this: Doesn't FD know exactly what the player base is doing?
Types of ships flown, trading, mining, exploring, Open, Solo, PvP, PG's, SRV's, Engineers, in the bubble, out of it, piracy, combat, etc, etc, etc!

So with these "major developments" (that do nothing for me except some QoL features) is FD exactly right in what they are doing knowing the player base? Or do they know and are ignoring it or (like Engineers initially) are they trying to force players into unwanted MMO/Open activities?
Or am I totally wrong about the server data and FD is clueless about what players do or want?
Obviously this will be your opinion unless some knows what data is collected and if FD looks at it.

I think the word I'd use for them is "naive".

Sandy said a few times in the latest Q&A stream that they really want to add new features to multicrew but will see how successful it will be. Yeah, I would guess they know what the players are doing.

Lol. So when no one uses multi-pew they can shrug any further additions to the feature. The fact that it''s shallow as can be is not considered?

Well, you failed at that then. Two extremely negative and one extremely postive.

I choose another option, hardworking decent guys who don't always get it right, but sometimes they get it spot on.

FD won't always deliver what the player base wants, because its not what they want or there are reasons they cannot do it.

We, the community, including all the silent voices who do not participate in forums and social media, do not get to decide what game FD are making. We can offer feedback, make suggestions, and if we are lucky, FD will like our suggestions, and when they can, they will implement... or maybe they like, but simply cannot do for one reason or another, or they like, but its such low priority its going to be years before they do it.

I suggest you stop looking at things in such a back and white manner.

Assuming that happens, then its likely it will go onto a back burner for some years, because its not good to keep pumping resources into something that isn't popular. Of course, it would be a shame that development resources were spent on it, but still, some people will still use it. People still play powerplay and CQC, even though both of those have their critics.

Of course, it remains to be seen, MC is likely to be very popular among the content creation community and roleplaying community. And even if shallow, it provides some nice advantages for combat, especially in the bigger ships with SLFs, as you will be able to have 2 SLFs out. Flying the SLFs is good fun, and zero risk... you blow up, respawn, wait for a new SLF to generate, and off you go again. If the helm gets blown up, hey, no worries, not your ship. In return you give the helm another mobile hardpoint. I think i can see it being fairly popular, at least with certain players.

Wow. Disappointing.
But whatever. I guess time will be the judge of what should have happened and been done.
Feel free to close this thread.

PP
CQC
RNGingeers

(I have never user SLFs so i dunno if that is good or not).

& now... multicrew?

It's not an inspiring list of developments is it. I mean, I know there have been other changes & fixes along the way too but the list above does not, in any way, inspire confidence.
