Horizons [Question] About mission reward

Dear all,

I played this game for awhile. And for now, I still don't know, why somebody have better reward than me, even we have same mission.

For detail:
- I grind in Quince, which use Planetary Scan missions & Surface Civil War Scan missions. My low reward is 70k-100k; normal is 100k-200k; maximum is 350k.
- I saw alot of video, some guy just post 6 days ago, and his mission rewards were about 350 - 600k. Ofcourse for those mission in Quince, too.

Here is something about me:
- I have allied status with all factions in Quince, except Jet Family - who just have smugle mission, which I don't like.
- I have allied with both Federation and Empire.

So, somebody please tell me, what happen with my mission reward? Or I missed something?
Thank you,

Missions are affected by your rank in the appropriate career. The reward will go up as you gain rank, although I'm not sure offhand which career actually affects scan missions.

Missions are generated per station and not per player. Rewards do not change based on you. The only difference rank makes is which missions you are allowed to accept. That person was just at the station when there was a higher paying mission.

Hi there,

Almost.

It is true that missions are generated per market, but they are scaled to the player.

The primary scaling factors are the rank of the mission (determined by your current rank, but separate from it) and your current reputation with the faction.

Thanks,
Dom

To be honest looking at what it says directly beneath Domenic Corner, I'd trust that guy :p

And yeah I recently did a bit of experimenting with my second account which has pretty much all ranks at 0 but allied with a few stations due to bounty hunting. I saw missions generally for up to 2/3 ranks higher than I was iirc and mission payout scaled by rank. On my live I'm Elite except trading so I was primarily comparing combat missions (skimmer/massacre).

I think you are correct that missions generate per market but there's some cool filters now that mean that a lot of missions that arn't relevant to you get filtered out in a bid to get the board to offer more acceptable missions to the players. <- I believe this is also one of the causes of the 0/0 missions available thing.

Hi there,

There is no filter.

"The 0/0 missions available thing" is an unfortunate side effect of the interaction between mission templates and geographical and bgs state of the market.

Efforts have been made to make it considerably better in 2.3, but I still can't guarntee that all factions will have missions at every market.

Thanks,
Dom

I think you're refering to the latest stream from Dav. IIRC what he said is that the mission server generates the same mission templates for everyone connected to said server, but as you access the mission board these templates are scaled to your rank to create the actual missions you can accept.

Any chance we could add, as secondary factors, things that make the mission more onerous to complete? I'm thinking of:
  • Distance to destination station from system primary. Maybe ignore the first 15000Ls and add a bonus after that.
  • Missions to a permit locked system. This rewards permit acquisition for independent systems where there is no other benefit to getting the permit.

Have to say I find that useful. When I'm trying to get rep with a faction 0/0 is the only time the paragraph about what else you can do to help them is displayed. Could we have that information somewhere else?
