Little request for Mission Details: Distance (ls) to station in Mission Screen, Please

Is it at all possible to display the distance in LS from jump-in point to a destination for a given mission, without having to open the galaxy map/etc. Even more so if the data isn't there/available (not discovered).

Reason, you accept a mission, only to find out it's 480k ls.

I don't even know if this is the proper way to "suggest" these types of things. But there's already the LY distance to the destination system, why not a LS distance to the destination stations, without the added bulk/tedium of opening the map/etc?

Excellent idea!

I find it quite annoying to look it up with the in game mechanics, especially if you accept multiple passenger missions with multiple destinations.

Bone idleness, CMDR! What kind of captain is loathe to plan his journey properly? The information is there, dagnabbit, you just have to do some preparation!

We wouldn't have this laxness in the Federal Navy, no sir, I smell Empire on you. Get one of your slaves to do it

Here's one way to tell: mission type/risk/requirements are way lower than the payout would indicate otherwise means the destination is 300k ls or more from the nav point.

LOL how hard is to click Galaxy map and system map before accepting mission.

Yes, I understand you can do that, and it's the only way to know. What I'm getting at, is it would seem logical, if not "simple" to just have that distance listed in the mission briefing in the first place. Saving you the trouble of opening the map (wait for Galaxy map to open, then open the system map), finding the station, and coming back to the mission. That's of course, if the system data is available for the given system you're looking for.

Given how much time this game seems to like to burn off of your clock, I thought it was a rather reasonable "request" to save some of it, when it seems it can be avoided altogether with a simple addition to the mission info screen when you are looking for one to accept.

+1. Needs to happen.

And...Can we get single click docking along with it? But yeah...Distance to objective in ls should absolutely be part of a mission brief.

It would be a nice bit of info on the mission screen. I too have grabbed a few missions, saying Wow, that one really pays! Then, I plot the route, and see that 300K LS distance and I'm like..Oh, that's why. Well, it ain't Hutton, and I've done that run a few times, so....Friendship Drive Charging!

There's so much info missing in this game though. Trade data, Engineer info, lack of autopilot. I mean, I have flown small aircraft built in the 1960's that have more on-board Navigational Technology than our Spaceships have 3100 years from now! But, yeah, if we had all the FutureTech, the game would play itself, so...

(At least the galaxy map autoplots for us now! Beta was rough when you had to do a lot of manual route planning. Very tedious, and when you messed up, well....self-destruct time...)

For that matter, I also think it'd be a neat feature to actually be able to plan your route, rather than just pick your destination. Allowing you to open the map, and plot a route with multiple points (say, where you have mission stops).

As opposed to jumping to one. Opening the transactions/map, selecting the next one and jumping to it, etc.

It would allow you a more efficient way to travel, rather than jumping back and forth all over the place. Especially if you're doing some of the longer ranged missions.

It's also a bit annoying that targeting anything while in SC, "breaks" your route/etc. It'd be nicer still if you could plot a system-to-system route separately, and have in-system targeting its own thing.

More random, coffeeless thoughts...

This was actually added to the game for 2.1 and then removed shortly after. I guess FDEV wants to you sit in menus buried for 20 minutes trying to calculate the distance to the station or starbase only to have you backup and have the mission completely vanish from the board. All part of the experience around here. Either that or some idiot reported it as a bug and FDEV patched it out. It's been a topic of discussion on and off ever since they removed it. Sad that we have to suggest features to see them added only to see them removed when there was no reason to remove it.

I would like a jump to system view/plot route button and possibly similar for the destination installation itself (this makes looking up destination facilities so much easier, also surface gravity).
Both restricted by your having that data of course..
Perhaps the option to _buy_ that data if you don't have it an it is available.
