Worried about 3.0 season/expansion

You are welcome to manually load an anaconda. Have lots of fun doing it for the tenth time.

You still don't get it, its a possibility for more gameplay AND its optional, are you smuggling? maybe the cops are checking the cargo and may detect the cargo with fake IDs.

Are you a trader? Do you have mixed commodities inside? then you need to learn how to store the cargo.

But this is what other game is doing, It was an example of how adding complexity in the game adds more gameplay value instead of adding more empty features with the same reused "press this button for tadaaa..." instant simplistic and easiest gameplay.

Space legs are probably a big step regarding development.

FD need to make the avatar being able to enter and walk around ships and some areas of stations.

Then you need stands. Cover mechanics, inventory mechanics and different load outs.

Just to get the stands right is not so easy. Most games got a simple stand system, some even got the glue to walls system, and I hate that. However they need to design it and then code it.

If they don't get it right in the design phase it will hunt them forever. So sandy look at Arma, that is a good and solid system without wall glueing.

Yep we want Space ArmA not some spiderman!

You're mistaking making things more complicated for gameplay. Those problems simply are not fun for the vast vast majority of people. And that other game has canned most of those features

You need to decide whether you're arguing this on the basis of it being crucial to gameplay or just because it was talked about in kickstarter - the latter means it can come much much later without a problem while the former supports the purported position that the game will die without it NAO.

I was simply pointing out that you Forza example isn't a valid comparison.

Shouldn't be a priority to adding more engaging ways to play exploration, mining, smuggling, trading and bounty hunter? So you think that adding complexity to this barebones "game" would be boring for the majority of the Elite playerbase? We should have the same stupid mechanics and cotinue with this empty reused gameplay over and over?

I don't understand something if people could answer this for me.

Elite should be a slow paced game because its a "simulator" and it should have simplistic 1 button press gameplay because having more complex systems would be so much complex for the majority of the players of this game.

So if you add a slow paced game to a 1 button gameplay then you get the most boring game in history?

I'm with you on this.

The sand in the sandbox needs to be a little deeper and have some different textures.

It's all very well adding things like multicrew and spacelegs but existing gameplay areas also need depth work. Exploration for example. A more sophisticated procedural content generator.

I enjoy the game in bursts so don't get me wrong. I'm an original Elite vet and a Founder.

But at some point the things that die hard Fans assured us were just placeholders, need more sophistication added. Again I would point to the xploration, which is the barest of bare bones.

The game needs to throw up more curve balls and surprises. Arriving at a station to find a pitched battle between defense forces and pirates. Missions to go raise blockades. To get named commodities through them. Content that isn't just injected into the game periodically in specific areas.

As an explorer I would like to feel more of a sense of anticipation and trepidation when jumping into a new system. Or as a trader anticipating more than a random interdiction.

I'm two thirds of the way to Colonia. I've discovered 300 plus new systems and a few new earth type worlds and water worlds through honking. Not the most exciting gameplay and all for about 7% added to my Pioneer rank.

I'm pretty much a shut up and take my money fan boy but I still think Frontier need to seriously up their game in some areas.

Yep seen it ta :). Sure, there'll be lots of options hopefully, I'm also intrigued by Genesis Alpha One from Team 17...

But one point would be: I'd just like to see what FDev do with EVA mechanics / procedural NPCs etc over time. Given enough R&D I think they could definitely do interesting things on the former, and there's an outside chance they could make a fun world experience via years and years or layered additions. I'd love to see them manage to mesh Legs with this existing world ultimately :). If they could get crews to interact with the current flight scenarios in an interesting way so much the better.

Hellion looks cool, but it's still a buggy Early Access for now, and personally the raid / survival brand isn't my thang. Definitely keeping tabs on it tho, and will prob mess with it down the line.

Team 17 LOL wow - they're still going? I remember Alien Breed on my Amiga that was an awesome sauce game. The trailer makes me think of Space 1999 for some reason :)

I'm sorry, but only empty, completely equal planets are allowed by the game design.

What you quoted would be fun and this is not allowed.

I know only empty, un-fun comments are allowed on the forum, but...

They have hinted that cave style tech is in the works. (Brabes used 'couldn't possibly comment' + smile to flag ship naming and alien contact in the same Q&A, so never know)

Try not to have fun with it if it does happen tho ;)

Flesh out that idea though - can it be anything more than:

so point the weldy repair tool and count to ten?

Because a man can dodge that gun, they can shoot back etc. Your hull tends not to.

Make it like car mechanic simulator :D

I didn't know Forza Devs made claims that that function would be coming in its kickstarter video.

Doesn't matter if they did or didn't the comparison is simply idiotic. I think this is the issue right here. The players who can't think of a reason to be walking around or fixing your ship or use "exploration" as a positive thing in Elite over those players that see the point of spacelegs and better exploration mechanics, etc

I wanna play that game!

LOL we all do, well, mostly! :)

Even that I don't understand. We already have vehicles that operate outside the ship. Isn't a space suit just another kind of vehicle?
I'm not thinking it's easy, I just don;t see why it's any harder than any other expansion they're thinking about adding.

It's so hard that everyone else is able to put it in their alpha.....

honestly NMS is coming on imo...... and at the £15 it was over the weekend on PS4, its getting to where it should be at imo.

Yeah I like the look of this update. Not so sure about the invincible buggy and still not going to buy it yet but worth keeping an eye on.

The repair scenarios everybody cites are really tedious and boring. Has there ever been a game with really polished, fun vehicular repair mechanics that added tons of depth? Let me know because I'd like to try it and see if that would work well in Elite. Walking over to a sparking console and pressing USE doesn't sound like it's a massive improvement. I'm immersed enough flying a spaceship in VR!

No, walking over and pressing a button is so ridiculous I don't know why they bother with it. All you're doing is added a button press to start an animation that is basically nothing more than an "I WIN" button. If, on the other hand, you had spare parts in your ship and actually had to grab a sheet of metal and weld it onto the hull that would make things more interesting - especially if you were also drifting and being sucked into a black hole or planet surface and had to fix your engines as well.

I WIN buttons suck major balls. Actual player interaction (See Car Mechanic Simulator) would be so much better.

Don't fancy any of the 'Mobile Mechanic' stuff I was pondering? I definitely wouldn't want a 'hit thing with magic spanner scenario', but think there are some scenarios out there that could be both kinetic and strategic. (Decompression management could be cool, but I'm particularly enamoured with the 'mend and make do' idea of boosting remaining kit with the remnants of old ones :))

Wow so everyone gave up reading that forum then?
