Attacker got his rear end kicked

Was it good work and quick thinking? Or me slamming myself into a asteroid with no shield boosters cause I was wanted?

Have to agree, while there's different ways to play in PvP, it is a game somewhat centered around such fighting. Griefing is not playing the game mechanics, it's using their loopholes of design to make someone else's play miserable. Going out of your way to be an , basically, especially repeatedly being such.

Okay, I was able to watch it:

1) Those turreted cannons look massively awesome.
2) Props to the Viper pilot for not running and crying.
3) Props to the FDL pilot for not running and crying.

As for skill: I am always deeply suspicious of people who only post Pro-Bro vids. If you're always flying sober in Open, you're not doing it right. If you dont try to get an asteroid out of its orbit every once in a while, you're not doing it right. If you aint got no badass turrets on your Viper, you aint doing it right. If you go for 5million uberjoule shields, you aint doing it right.

This video was straight-up fun.

Common practice online really if you ask me, only show off 'good' things about yourself whatever you consider good that is.

For job interviews, sure. But who cares here, am I supposed to be concerned someone might record me landing my corvette upside-down on the pad by accident? Oh the horror, people will laugh at me forever! :p btw, that comment was tongue-in-cheek, I dont expect isinona to upload blooper reels or anything. Was more referring to the people who have to jump on every error as some kind of 'look at me noticing you shouldnt boost into an asteroid!' thing. :p

Ah, well much the same, people bragging is important online, so yeah.

Its kinda sad what gaming culture seemingly has become, I blame increased competitiveness making people forget that they are supposed to play games to have fun, and yes competitiveness can be part of fun but it shouldn't be all of it, which it seems to be for some, including for example, those that always look for the easiest way to the top because...........some reason? I assume.

Gaming is one of the most easily accessible self-administering sources of validation and gratification in modern society.

The turrets are there because Viper 4's don't fly anything like viper 3's. Once he's mastered the lateral thrusters he won't need the turrets. Viper Mk Iv is an awesome ship when you get used to it.

Awesome vido man, luckily you had the video running when that FDL came at you. While that fight could have turned out badly it also was a ton of fun, gave a chance to get some out of the ordinary excitement. I Know it sucks getting ganked but it definitely adds to the suspense of flying in open.

On a side note I think turrets may become more common following the release of 2.3 when we can fly in 3rd person.

Fun, fantastic vid, OP. Thanks for posting. It makes me want to build that ship just to see those brilliantly detailed turrets in action a few arms lengths away. They're going to look so good in VR.

Turrets aren't about your aiming skill, they're about getting maximum time on target, and in a ship that changes direction like a frog in honey (haven't actually tried this experiment - maybe they're incredibly agile in it?) like a Viper MkIV or a Gunship, they can make a lot of sense. Personally I thought they looked awesome, swivelling around right in front of the cockpit.

No-one's mention the advanced disco scanner half way through yet. For my, that was the highlight. Exploration and PvP coming together in perfect harmony [money]

A perfect example of why scanners should have their own group, with different bindings. fire groups should be reserved for things that... Erm.. Fire.

Z...

This is what makes this game fun, and we need more of it.
Player decided I'd be a good target. He's got an engineered FDL and I'm in a puny Viper MkIV. Easy kill for him, right? But I decided to scoot under a system authority ship and see what he'd do. Would he play it smart and hold off firing...Nope!

My first mismatched PvP kill in a Viper MkIV. Kewl.

He crashed in an asteroid :) Although, well played :) Clever with the authority ships.
