People threatening to quit the game

What I find amusing is the number of people that talk about how terrible the game is and how broken it is and how they're quitting the game. Meanwhile they have 2000+ hours in the game and are clearly majorly addicted. It's like watching a heroin addict ing to their dealer that the product sucks and they're going to quit. Yeah, sure you will and I'm going to be the next president.

Is this thread really necessary?

Not, but its friday night so anything goes. :)

People threaten to quit because they are frustrated and feel powerless. No matter the circumstances, its not ideal for people to feel that way, and its not much better to muck them. As entertaining as that admittedly can be.

This is every game forum ever. There is always a contingent of people who hang their entire entertainment needs and even sometimes their self-worth on a single game, and then are of course ruined when the game doesn't support that level of neediness at every turn. They stay forever, slowly resenting more and more the fact that they're not getting what they need instead of simply going to find what they need elsewhere.

It's like staying in a bad relationship to avoid being alone, instead of using the 500000 available dating sites or even going to the grocery store in a nice shirt. Much simpler for some people to just stay with someone they hate, and game relationships seem to fall into this same dynamic for many people.

After 2000+ hours the game is tedious.
I'm checking the current beta then will be off doing something more engaging than ED.

There's usually something else to find in the game. Sure, if you're doing the same thing or chasing the same goal for 16 weeks game time, it can and should get stale.

I've found that joining an active player group and playing the BGS has made the game fresh again. Over 2700 hours and still liking it.

It helps to have slightly insane leadership who come up with oddball activities that might not even relate to game progression. Yes, I'm looking at you, Arc and Big Pappa. ;)

If I had a credit for every "Im leaving" post, I wouldn't need to worry about this 3 million fine I just picked up thats for sure.

that's the same thing I've done for the past 2 betas or so.
I mean sure I got (according to steam) 1,479 hours but I have quit playing the game a tiny bit after the start (and end) of a new beta.
For instance the last time I was here was the 2.2 beta. I'm here playing again and I'll probalby stop playing again a week or so after 2.3 rolls out.

I can empathise with those 2000+ hour rage quit threats, i have been there (or close to it at least) myself.

The game is great, just as you like it & you feel 'yes, this is what I've been looking for for years', then an update changes the game, and not only is it no longer perfect (for you), but compulsory updates mean you can't go back either.

It can be as frustrating to lose what you had as it is joyous for another to finally get the game they wanted all along.

So try not to mock too hard, for one day you may be in the same position they are now.

Yeah well my copy sits gathering dust. I only log in when an update comes out. FD have completely lost the plot if they think the pace of the "storyline" is even remotely acceptable.

My copy is not gathering dust at all!
..and I have more than 19 weeks game time :D
(that is more than 3000 hours, if you wonder)

But I take breaks.

Now if you excuse me, I just got home from work, quickly dropped by the forums, and now I need my daily fix of Elite ;)

I call that good value for my money, how many games can keep you playing for that long? Most good rpgs, 30-100 hours? And that still good value, well unless you are some kind of masochist that didn't enjoy it but played it anyway.

Oh, I don't know; I think I have clocked more than 500 hours in Skyrim, and I enjoyed it until the end.
World of Warcraft, pre-2009? Don't even want to know....
