As of v2.2.03, what is your general opinion of ED?

1-2.... but about thrusting FD i'm sustained till i see what will 2.4, 3.0 and 3.x content will be and than i will compare delivered features with promised in KS vids.
In a half year we will know a lot more, now is bad time for certain conclusions.

Same sentiment here

For me the game has become boring, thus I'm off playing other stuff, none of the new stuff forth coming in 2.3 holds that much interest for me.

As for trusting FD. Nah lost that a while back, and nothing they have done of late is bringing it back.

6.

Generally enjoy the game but I am frustrated at how good this game actually could if FD applied some modern game play ideas and game design. Also I am exasperated by the "1 step forward, 2 steps" back approach to bug fixing. And don't get me started on game balance...

Having spent almost an entire year without any weapons on my hardpoints I have to disagree with Elite being "just a space shooter". There are lots of things to do in the galaxy that don't require combat. Head over to the exploration sub forum sometime.

Yes indeed.
I have two Cmdr saves, one for combat and the other no combat, in my 21 months of owning ED.
Probably have spent 90% of that time in ships with no weapons.
Guess it depends what you expected to get out of ED but it would not break my heart if FD stopped goofing with combat additions to this game (and lame attempts to force player interaction) and focused on other things.

Definitely 4 (and 5 and whatever will come after 2.3).

I am still not playing (much) at the moment, as I'm a little bit over saturated. But this has nothing to do with the game not being fun. It's simply what happens with each and every game after you played it a lot (and I do mean 'a lot' here! :D).

Hence I'm holding myself back deliberately until 2.3 launches - to strengthen the appetite for the next course.

So 4 out of 5 options for players who are bored but still playing a game that they find boring (for whatever reason) and only one option non-specifically titled "other" available to players who are not bored?

This is why players shouldn't be allowed to make polls.

It's ok though.... players with the sense to do something else when they get bored of a game likely have the sense not to vote in pointless polls.

Maybe we could start a Change.org petition for FD to set up a support group for players who are too strung out to put the game down after they get bored with it.

Do the right thing FD. Take some responsibility.

Enjoy what we have on the basis it is bare bones and have been filling in the blanks for 3 years thinking "this will flesh out " soon"". I Feel FD are at a crossroads however and decisions they are making now do not reflect well on the long term future of the game (from my perspective). Short term I will continue to play tho

forum poll on how people view the game

note that would be 'forum people'. not being picky, just pointing out that the forum is just a tiny fraction of the feedback frontier has. specially the marketing dept.

4: the game is not boring to me, but i expected to see a lot more 'galaxy stuff' and deeper gameplay, and less minigames and junk. still enjoy doing stuff after about 1500h in, though
6: i've learnt to drop any expectations but am still expectant. if this makes any sense :)

Its a game you always come back to. Its entertaining and fun, and there is always new content. I am a kickstarter backer and a sci-fi fan. Although I dont think we have seen the peak of E.D yet. I dont think Frontier yet understand the potential of Elite Dangerous Universe. As it has the same potential as Star Trek and Star Wars. For toys, movies and games. Although as the masses has moved on to survival games and building games. Such is also the potential with Elite Dangerous.
I will list up some things which still is missing from E.D which will make it amazing.
1. Be able to land on planets with an atmosphere.
2. Spacelegs (With commander creator all is set for this)(Making a bar where people can meet up and walking in ships is a good start)
3. Collect materials and build a base where ever you want (This would be truly revolutionary and would make E.D a billion industry)
4. As in Conan where you can capture NPCs and make them allies (If you could interact with NPCs more and maybe make them team up with you in a way)
5. Hire NPC wingmen joining your wing (Endless possibilities)
6. Finding stuff in the universe which you can use on your ship or maybe your private quarters (posters, nameplates, skins, skins of guns (Like Imperial tachyon Cannon) jsut a skin but makes your ship unique, and its rare.) unique decals from missions or finding stuff in the universe.) Special attachments on your ship which will make it better. The attachments cant be bought but must be found. Or obtained through missions.)
7. Endless potential with E.D, David Braben has done what he promised but I dont think anyone of us understood the scale of creating a living breathing galaxy and that its not easy. Much programming and planing goes into it. and the bigger it gets the more must change for every change you make. It all depends on the code which how the game is built on, the Cobra engine.)

What do you think? I dont think the game is boring, but it need that little creative extra. Ship launched fighters, multicrew, commander creator and engineers are all great features for E.D. Now make us interact more with the universe. The ships, the planets, the asteroids, the bases. We need space legs and be able to build something. Have a nice weekend :)

FOOOOOUUUUR!

um, that is to say I still like the game very much and I do trust frontier. 1100 hours and still plenty to do. The more they add the more play I plan.

It's ok though.... players with the sense to do something else when they get bored of a game likely have the sense not to vote in pointless polls.

I think a lot hang around (in the game and the forum) in the hope that 'one day' the game will live up to its potential.

Other: I find this game to becoming less and less an Elite game, and more and more a generic space shooter with an Elite skin. I also find this game to be less and less an engaging experience, and more something to waste some time with, emphasis on waste.

They disable polls because people are making lame polls that are hard to understand or don't give other options kinda like option 6 here so a player and explain their views.

But I agree with Darkfyre99
I would consider both of your cases a solid 1, since you seem to believe that FD are not making Elite and the fact you consider the game to be mostly wasting time implies boredom or lack of enjoyment.

A solid other answer. I find the game boring and do not enjoy it, unsure what the future holds but not overly hopeful and what little hope remains hinges on what 2.4 contains. I never trusted FD at the start and dont trust them now, dont think they capable but am hanging in there to be proved wrong.

A slightly different version of one basically...if I had no hope of things getting better, then I wouldnt be here on this forum...but their last chances are wearing thin. In the meantime, Ive moved onto other games and just hang around the forums in the hope, the very slim and fading hope, that Ill catch some snippet that will inspire me.

Apart from that, meh whatever...even my enthusiasm fer ranting has all but gone ^

I don't find the game boring. What I'm finding is that the game no longer feels like an Elite game, and as I result, I'm not as engaged as I was when the game was closer to its roots.

Once upon a time, I could manipulate markets to maximize profitability. Today, markets are static things, outside of the local shocks provided by CGs. The emphasis is increasingly on combat, and its becoming increasingly clear that exploration isn't going to be fleshed out with more things to do. In fact, Frontier removed an exploration activity I found to be fun, simply to appease the "I want it now" crowd.

I have waited for over two years to go on my FIRST deep space exploration journey. I doubt that will ever happen, given the direction Frontier is moving this game.

This is still a FUN game, and the supercruise mechanics remain top notch, but the bottom line is that this is no longer an ELITE game. I've gotten my money's worth out of the game, and am now passing time until something better comes along. Or until Frontier, in order to appease the instant gratification crowd, decides to remove Supercruise from the game in favor of point to point jumping. At which point, there'll be nothing left for me.

So 4 out of 5 options for players who are bored but still playing a game that they find boring (for whatever reason) and only one option non-specifically titled "other" available to players who are not bored?
Read the options again... 2 of the options (1 and 2) are saying bored or lack of enjoyment but whether they see the situation changing or not... 1 option (3) is saying bored with the game but still enjoying it.... 1 option (4) is basically everything is good... option 5 is basically a general impatience over 2.3 beta duration... and the final option 6 is a catch all.

Then perhaps take both feet out of your mouth ;)

A strong 3 from me...
THe game is boringly addictive :) But I find myself having to take a week off every so often just to stop it wearing my brain to mush...
