Horizons Search for Cadmium repsectivelly how long a FSD jump should really take.

Hi Cmdrs,

Just made my first little Tip Video for Elite Dangerous. And i just realized something - after speeding up the Witchspace Jump - this is actually MUCH better and would make travelling fun again.
Ever since the new Loading Sequence i feel it just takes a bit too long. You just have to watch the first 30s of the Video to get a Feel for it.

And everyone else if your on the Hunt for Cadmium, this is a Great Place:

Cheers! :)

It doesn't take as long for everybody, it depends on how populated (player population) your area is. Also pc specs and Internet connection might impact loading time aswell.

I do agree tho, travelling would feel really nice that way.
But we have to remember that it firstly is a loading screen. It might get faster later on, let's just enjoy the fact that they made a loading screen actually lore friendly and beautiful [noob]

Ps: nice video CMDR !

It's a glorified loading screen. Therefore it takes a time, depending on your system specs and bandwidth.

That being said, in Horizons it takes about 30% longer (there's simply more stuff to load with landable planets and all that), so if you want to travel far and a little faster, fire up the non-Horizons version. ;)

It's optimized somewhat in the 2.3 beta, and takes a little more than 10 seconds off my jumps, down from 27 seconds in witchspace in live to 15 in the beta. This is much more acceptable.

Also drops from SC to normal space are down from 14 seconds to 3.

That is actually really good! Five to ten minutes saved for every 1000kylies traveled is actually notable.

This same moon also has one of the highest known percentages of tin (3.1%) in and around the bubble and one of the highest known percentages of Ruthenium (2.9%).

Whaaat ? ill have to test this *.*
Ever since the new Screen came up i was like damn now it takes just a tad too long ( I am also gonna try the Non Horizons Version for that Matter ).
I have a fairly decent PC with an INSANE Internet Connection here - it can be the Routing but id never have a Bandwith Issue .. ever ^^ ( Next to my House goes the Euro-Interlink-Exchange Fiber Line ) - i let them place a Box in my Basement for a direct Connection ( 2Gbit/2Gbit ) ^^ its faster than my Harddrives can handle when the Servers deliver lol ^^

And then there's the Region Population/Serverload. Hmmm i think ill make a Comparison in Privatemode and see :)

Thanks for the Tips ! :)

And Thankyou Cmdr Dsign :)
i have more planned - actually a whole lot more Tip Videos and then there's a rather big Storyline/Series planned - which without external Camera help id either have to do on the beta server or wait for MC to finish.
Besides i need a Cmdr Face for that and i fear we cannot transfer them back from beta ( and getting it exactly as i managed there is hard - wish there was an XML export function or something *.* ).
Sure i could obfuscate it somewhat with teh helmet but mmhmmm - will have to make some tests, lets see.

ps. If anyone wants to get into a Story on YT and is not Voice shy i still need a few Commanders for some Roles. But first i am going to complete the Script/Storyboard - Baselines are already done - now i just have to figure how i want to split the Episodes up and what Scenes i need. I am playing with an Alliance Background ( as i am not a native English speaker, that fits it pretty well as their a mixed bunch anyway :)

Cheers!

It's very noticeable, and makes the game very much more playable IMO. The faster witchspace sequences are great, but it's actually the 10 seconds saved every time I drop from SC or OC that make the biggest difference to me.

I didn't have problems with impulse/SC transitions, interestingly enough. 15s must have been quite terrible. I feel ashamed that I get annoyed when I encounter the 1s "planet freeze" upon entering the glide, stomping my foot and mumbling about broken immershun. :D

It was really very soul destroying, just made the game feel like a series of long pauses.

Anyway, there's a little patch note from the original 2.3 beta hidden away under the network section about streamlining the session join protocol which is what I believe has improved my experience, and for me that is entirely the best thing that this update has brought... :D

Whoa yeah indeed about 10s Shorter in Beta *.*

Made also a Quick Video. In System Time seems to be the same, probably with alot of Cmdrs around that still varies but heck yeah! One of the best Features so far :D :D :D

That's great news about the faster loading/transition screens in beta. I can comfortably live with the long witchspace sequences (although shorter will be nice), but I have to concentrate on not being taken out of the game by pauses on SC transitions and glide.

My limited impression of beta is that everything seems a bit nippier. Even those long delays in glide mode at planets and the massive one sometimes with opening the galaxy map and commodities markets. Im hoping this is not just the beta server ...

It's always like this. Frontier are great at optimization and the little things. Sadly these things are rarely appreciated, because people want long hair.
Personally, I'm ecstatic about these things.

As a person who has some insight into game development, I know how important they are, and how thankless of a job they are to do. Because those are the things that you won't normally notice when they work. You only notice them when they don't, which is unfair.
