Ship transfer using unfeasible route?

Hello

If I have a ship with a max jump range of 10 ly, and I try to transfer it and it involves a jump of more than that, is it not allowable?

Your ship does not transfer herself, she's being transported. Her jump range doesn't matter.

You can easily transfer a completely stripped-down hull with 1LY jump range and it will take the same amount of time.

Transfers are carried out by bulk carriers, your ships jump range is not a factor.

Thanks for the replies - anyone care to estimate how much it costs to transfer an Anaconda worth about 160 million credits around 300 ly ?

Go to the shipyard tab and look at the stored ship tab, put your mouse over the said ship and it will tell you time and cost.

I'm not in a position to transfer it yet - was thinking about making the journey in my hauler taxi, and then transferring the Anaconda afterwards.

My Anaconda is pretty unbuffed and got very low jump range - if it only costs a few hundred thousand credits to transfer it, I'd rather do that than have a tedious 30 jump journey

If I remember correctly a station roughly 200ly away costed 10 million so not even remotely close to what you think ;)

EDIT: For my anaconda which has a 20ish mil rebuy not sure if it goes by costs or weight

Hells bells....... looks like I'll be making the journey myself then!

Tedious 30 jumps.... I fell of the chair!! That is nothing!
Ehh I need a drink!

Cheers Cmdr's

It's tedious when you've got two young kids and only get around 30 mins to play each day.

Same situation as you, only less time to play, maybe manage an hour or two every week. 21 jumps to Maia from Deciat and back again (twice due to not noticing my cargo hatch had failed and dumped my Meta Alloys :| ), takes me about 20-30 minutes each way. Rather enjoyed the views, would have liked to have spent longer doing some more sight seeing.

add an advanced discovery scanner... and make money from the trip (around 250K cr).

30 jumps is about 45-60 mins in a standard anaconda (if you don't stop to scan the scenery).. but if its in the bubble most of the systems will scan as named (rather than unknown)

you could always remove the modules and buy them back once you've reached your destination. a lightweight conda with 6E FSD will do 17ly when stripped (so less jumps)

There are many of us without much spare time in our lives. I have practically none and so have chosen a play style and a ship that works for me.

It sounds like you need to up your jump range because 30 jumps isn't really much at all in the scheme of things. Perhaps consider flying a cheaper ship until you have the dosh to outfit your anaconda properly. Or maybe it is the wrong ship for you.

All I was doing was asking for some information so I can plan ahead and make my next 30 minute playing slot as profitable (not just in terms of CR, but in terms of "progress") as possible. If I had the time to find things out for myself I would, and I would enjoy doing so. I've been playing Elite since 1984. Unfortunately right now I find myself "wanting to play" more often than I am "able to play", and asking questions on the forum is the closest to actually playing the game that I can sometimes get.
