Trump and Erdogan don't really matter for her popularity, maybe even helping her a little.
Hard to say how the September election vs. Schulz will play out. Merkel's problem here is that she didn't develop a compelling narrative for her style of government in the past two years. So the only narrative in the election campaign will be "don't worry, everything's fine, let's keep it that way".
This time, it might not be enough.

Anti-Erdogan and anti-Trump sentiments keptvan impopular Rutte in office last week. Had he been praised by them he might have been out of a job now. As for German elections I dont know enough about it.

Throw in an insult from Farage, a rant from Le Pen, and a complaint from Theresa May and Merkel should officially run for Queen of the World as far as I am concerned.
When someone is a thorn in the side of racists, bigots, supremacists, and nationalists she's doing something right.

If creatures like Erdogan and Trump think she is bad, she must be good.
Perhaps she made mistakes, although I am not to sure about that, but I think Germany should be happy with a level headed chancellor like Merkel.
She does believe in invisible magical beings, but apart from that she appears quite sane nevertheless.
She also had a change of mind recently because she makes everything so that the Turks keep the migrants at their home. She has force-feed the Germany, and even for the Germans, the force-feeding of geese has a limit
