Is it worth flying Elite or should I just wait for 2.3?

Is there any point? I heard 2.3 makes some changes such as altering npc faces, ship mechanics, etc. Problem is there seems to be no eta which surprises me.

It`s always annoying getting invested then everything suddenly changes when you least expect. So is it worth doing something else with my free time? I`m considering flying IL2 or even having a run on Spacehulk Deathwing which isn`t bad.

I've kinda slowed down my ED gaming recently.
Seems as I'm mostly doing engineering on my Anaconda and Python(s) at the moment, i figured i may as well stop until 2.3 drops.
So i joined PowerPlay, but that was rubbish, so i just stole(earned) a load of Packhounds and ran for it. Lol

I don't really have any other goals right now, i did plan to go exploring again, but I'm not sure where to go, or what ship to take.
There's no interesting CGs right now either, so I've picked up No Man's Sky, and I'm dabbling in that.

I was going to get back in to Arma 3, but the day i decided, they dropped a 5gb update, which takes agggggges (if ever) to download on my internet. :p

If you haven't already you could try the Ancient Ruins exploration thing.
There is a reasonable chance that will change with 2.3 but no harm giving it a go now before 2.3 kicks off.

Generally speaking when a Beta drops I stay away from Live. Either just do some Beta stuff or play something else knowing ED will be a bit better 'soon'. However this time I was wanting to get some Engineered Shields (having done any engineer stuff since it first launched) so have been pottering in live. Just to note, engineers certainly feels friendlier now.

I'd say if you had a specific task in mind then keep playing anyway. Though remember taking regular breaks from ED can be good for sufferers of 'grinding fatigue'. [yesnod]

Apart from 2.3 adding multi-crew (and holo-me), most of the rest of the changes are incremental so there'll be no "sudden" changes (shield booster stacking thing aside - and that's just PvP meta). If you have to ask if it's worth it then it probably isn't, take a break come back when 2.3 drops. Or when you want to.

ETA is a few days to a few weeks in my estimate. :p Anyway, rather odd question. Not sure what to say other than 'fly if you want to, dont if you do not...'.

Having felt it myself, I've found the best way to deal with Elite: Ennui is to do something different.
For me, that means investigating the alien ruins.
I've battled, explored, hauled, mined, engineered, hunted, all until they've become almost painful.
Investigating the ruins has proven to be a nice change of pace, and rather interesting as well.

Of course keep flying.
If by "invested" you mean "yur imershun" I treat these QoL changes as "ship and station upgrades that naturally occur as time marches on."
For example: Station orientation in SC. Been wanting that forever so when 2.3 drops my "sensors just got a software update."
Guess I am just easy to please though...

I agree. The game will keep evolving- why hold back on ejoying it as it is just because changes are around the corner? The essence of the game is the same- either you enjoy it or not. The changes are something to look forward to. And if we're on the edge of getting some Thargoid bother (not necessarily right away), it's worth taking some time to get yourself a well armed space gubbins to deal with it!

I'll be alien ruin hunting soon on the basis that things will change in the near future- be good to get a grounding now and enjoy the changing experience.

Hmmm... alien ruins, eh?

Thanks all for your advice. I don`t usually ask this kind of stuff, but thought I would today.

Indeed - there are many that have been discovered, and likely many more still waiting to be discovered.
And you can make credits in the process, maybe even a friend or two to boot, so yeah, alien ruins.

Ahh, Arma. The first person shooter series that simulates what it's like to walk around with a bar fridge on your head.

No, it's clearly a Walking Simulator. :p

Or Waiting To Be Revived Simulator.

The PvE servers in Arma are great fun though.
I love commanding the UAV for recon or bombing of targets. It's good fun working with a team on the ground.
I also like to be a sniper, but the server i play only has 1 sniper slot, so I often end up as a marksman. Unless they're all taken up, then i join as a pilot. Unless they're all taken up, then i do something else. Lol

It's been good fun and a change of pace. It is also the only thing that has got me playing in Open, an entirely positive experience I have to say - though I was very much clear of anywhere that was otherwise busy.
I'm planning on heading back out and helping the wider exploration effort now, many more sites to find I'm sure and I'd love to discover one.

Im out in the roids, making millions, and not waiting for anything.
When it comes out, Then Ill be back into the black. Till then, making little rocks outta big rocks, and lining me coffers.
