Will i be able to telepresence myself in 2.3?

So if TP is a thing why cant i just telepresence myself to anywhere i have a ship stored?
Why do i need friends to telepresence? This seems like unfair discrimination against misanthropes to me.

This is just one of the multitude of lore mucking around that tele-presence introduces and the main reason why I don't like it.

I don't have much of an issue with the mechanics tbh but I'd rather make a second CMDR avail per account than have some random lore breaking explanation for stuff.

Yeah i have an FDL parked in a system i want to get to 100+ ly away from my current location. If the game allowed me whisk around the galaxy at whim in the blink of an eye, i probably wouldnt be playing at all.

ED has cinematic elements, every cmdr stars in his own movie and like actual cinema movies, when the suspension of disbelief becomes too great a mental gymnastic, personally, i will probably just give up on it.

Telepresence is the [Elite: Dangerous, the game] term for helping out friends in multi crew.

In-universe, such technology does not exist or you'd be able to create hard light holograms on uninhabitable worlds, to populate them and explore them long before they could be terraformed or bases could be constructed on them.

If they just came straight out and said "Hey CMDR's for now you can jump into a Hologram replication of yourself, kinda like Rimmer from red dwarf, to fly alongside you friends. It's just a placeholder until we can work out a meaningful lore background for it etc" I'd be happy.....

Hell they should just can the whole tele-presence thing and say you are taking over an AI hologram to crew up for your buddy and not give any rewards for doing so. IMO if you get rewards then you should get your to your buddies location and help them out!

I'm pretty sure the term telepresence was made up on the spot by someone who had no idea what they were talking about, and even if you asked them they wouldn't admit it.

As it is with all things, some people care too much, some care too little, and the rest of us are close enough to "everyone" that we just don't give a damn.

The ship shouldn't need to be stored. I'll just telepresence myself to the ship dealer and buy it, along with some cargo.

Then maybe I'll telepresence the whole shooting match to another system 100 LY away and sell it. They can telepresence me the credits.

Yeah, thats the kind of game im talking about, where you dont even have to actually play it.

We're on the same page.

Has the explanation of what happens to your physical body and ship when telepresent been discussed?

Can you telepresence out of combat? If not, why not?

Because your ship cannot be flown by a hologram. Basic crew functons can be done remotely, but piloting requires a living human. Otherwise your ship wouldn't have life support now would it? Otherwise you wouldn't need an emergency helmet. Otherwise you there would be no problem with the loss of oxygen.

Well, I was thinking of the option to be able to buy a single tele-presence unit to encourage exploration more. So only one per account and only usable in what are considered the exploration ships.

It could be unlockable with Palin so you'd need to have done at least a 2k Ly travel before. Is that such a horrible idea? I think it would drastically improve the willingness of people to leave the bubble. Maybe restrictions on using SRV as it doesn't have the module installed.

Yeah that wasnt a combat log, i just telepresenced myself to an urgent appointment :D

I'd telewatch your telestream.
Telerepped.

It doesn't change the nature of it (so I'm not a personal fan), and I don't think hardcore explorers overlap much with hardcore telepresence advocates.

Ok so just to get this out of the way:
I will not be responsible for bounties incurred upon my telepresenced self, nor will i be responsible for debts or fines accrued by my telepresenced self and just to be clear my non telepresenced self, like my telepresenced self does not have a big "H" on its forhead.

Why do people fly in an airplane to London when they can just teleconference there for cheaper? I dunno. Why do people learn to play a guitar when they could just program a guitar sound on a digital audio workstation? I dunno.
