Mobius population

It seems to me that some players are very bitter towards other players that don't want to fight other players in this game. For some unknown reason...a few 10s of thousands of people making there own group to play together in offends them. I've thought about it....and I can't for the life of me figure out where the bitterness comes from. If open play is so wonderfull....and mobius so terrible, then why comment at all? I asked to join mobius, I have my reasons to have asked. But if you don't play IN mobius, then what are you missing? Why get all wound up about it? Is it because
Players that want to PvE are your = content and now you can't get to them?

Well, if you had just spent hours grinding exploits in Solo mode to get an über engineered combat ship, only to learn that all the easy pray is playing in a PvE mode, you would be sore too.

Are we? You seem to be talking about how 'bitter' any detractors are, and others about necroposting being sowm sort of conspiracy by mobius players.

This thread has been resurected after a 5 month lull. And hasnt discussed mobius population in some pages.

But of course, because its a pro pve thread itll get a pass, much like usual.

Sounds like yer issue is with the mods if yer saying they moderate with a biased approach...ye should send in a ticket explaining yer theory ^

Let's leave the Mobius haters alone. They don't like Mobius for whatever reason and that's all we need to know.

I made pretty much all of my in-game friends in Private Groups. It used to be a group called Aussie Commanders but they're no longer active. I still have friends from there though.

Right now, it's Mobius, and I treat them the same as any guild or group that I play in - make friends and don't shoot your teammates in the back. The difference though is that this "guild" has a lot of members so I'm guaranteed to find friends in my timezone.

I see just as many people getting around in Mobius as I do in open, probably more actually. Sorry Agony Aunt for blocking that pad the other week, I was in galaxy map. [squeeeee]

Never apologise for blocking a landing pad, it's part of the game. Way back in 2014, DBOBE mentioned that a player could destroy another on a landing pad. However, because of the draconian nature of space stations and platforms, that's no longer feasible. :)

There exists a group of people. Usually young, and very physically inactive. These are generalizations, of course; exceptions within the group exist.

This group of people have nothing in their lives that challenges them. Nothing that answers that instinctual call to compete for supremacy or pride of place within the tribe. Nothing to fuel the young or over developed ego and it's need to be the best at something.

So they turn to video games. But lacking in the self esteem that comes from overcoming real challenge in life, they don't seek fair and challenging competition in games. That might lead to defeat and the crushing of their fragile ego.

Instead members of this group seek to beat up on the unprepared, the unsuspecting. The unWILLING, even. In school, we know them as bullies. In the adult world, Sociopaths and Psychotics. In gaming...As Griefers and Gankers. I find it likely that unchecked indulging in the first and third statuses, probably leads to the worst case adult designator in some members of this group.

Of course, people in this group have tied their self esteem to their expertise in online bullying. They brag about. The outright deride others, lifting insults and mocking tones, that others DARE TO GET ALONG WITH PEOPLE.

Ignore these people. Our Hunter Gatherers ancestors would have (rightly) exiled them. Or worse. Probably for fear their tendency toward one-upmanship and bullying might tempt others and thus destroy the tribe.

This is why I avoid Open. And every online Survival game ever made. These are the ultimate stages for bullies to stand on. Justifying their behavior the while with "it's just a game, I'm playing a role" like that's a legit excuse for ENJOYING making other people miserable. It's an unhealthy emotional state and I'd rather not subject myself to People wallowing in it.

Wow, a whole lot of generalisations in there, impressive!

It is psychologically interesting how bumping of a older thread manage to agitate someone this much.

There are some generalizations in that post. Sure.

On the other hand, I've seen far too many Griefers who genuinely enjoy others misery, to think there's no broader root cause responsible for the attitudes and actions of those driven to derive their joy from others pain and frustration.

It goes hand in hand with another realization I had:

I used to enjoy grueling games. Give me Dark Souls or give me Death.

I scoffed at Bethesda RPGs (and still do, though for different reasons, mostly technical). I wanted games to bet me, punish me, make me WORK for victory.

Then I transitioned from a Help Desk job, to am IT career. Projects to organize. To lead. Procedures to create, adjust. People to help train and coach.

At the point where my day to day success required overcoming very real, very dynamic Challenge, my gaming tastes shifted. I turned to ETS2 and Exploring in Elite while listening to music or podcasts. Gone was my taste for horridly punitive games.

I truly think that if more Griefers and Gankers would put down games for a while and challenge themselves to accomplish something real - preferably as part of a a group or team - their taste for making others miserable by "challenging" them would fall away. I really do.

Mods can we lock this thread? Not only is it a Necrothread, its way off topic.

Or do posts by Game Ambassadors with pretend medals get a pass on this level of moderation?

Off topic? The thread is titled: Mobius Population...

I gave an example of how crowded the latest cargo CG was in said group. Others have chimed in on that. It is an example of "Mobius Population".

Triggered much?

Nope. Not at all. I just find it hillarious that people need to draft some sort of coffee shop psychology essay to explain away why people in a game where we have gun mounts on our ship might want to use them against other players.
