Docking Challenges: Post Your Attempts

Purely for the lulz.

Here is my attempt. Totally not efficient but hopefully enough to get the ball rolling. :)

Feel free to add your videos!

p.s.
I would love it if FD updated the challenge scenario so you could edit the start setup e.g. defaulting FA to off etc. At least they could add a timer!

I can't really record with my current setup, but I do enjoy FAO docking my Cutter.

Everybody who hasn't already should give FAO docking a try. It makes it into an event again, the way it was when you first started playing.

That gets you about 5 out of 10. No traffic and you went in on the wrong side. Nice try though.

That's how you do it right.

show off!

ok, now you need to try IndigoWyrd's challenge... with landing gear down before you go through the slot. :D
How can landing a sidewinder be a challenge for any semi-experienced player? You can barrel roll it through the slot with room to spare. Dropping the landing gear just slows it down.

Go up a few posts and see what I'm referring to... ;)

You only get the Sidewinder. :/

JIC you haven't got access to the beta. 2.3 comes with a set of challenges in the training missions (SRV and docking and another). I think these are a great idea but need to be worked on to make them totally awesome. It would be sweet if you could set up ships and starting configs restrictions too.

If memory serves me, you just posted a video landing with your DC. Let's see your FA Off skilz and then we can talk:p

Didn't know that Betas offered challenges; I will have to look them up sometime.

How about landing while in third person perspective?

Now that was good!

Andy's docking preety slick too.

Now you've made me fire up the Beta to check this out :D

EDIT: I'm no FAOFF master, rarely using it except in combat maneuvering, but respect to you who have mastered it.

Fired up the training, and after multiple attempts gave up on the letterbox, FAON, entered the station, FAOFF, and did, eventually, land it. There were only 50 seconds left on the docking clock when I managed to make contact.

I find overcorrection and taking too long to know which direction the ship is actually travelling are my main problems. And spinning after collisions.

You make it look ultra smooth!
