You play open is already multiplier.Playing in Open brings bigger risks, so it is only fair to have a multiplier to compensate.
Here the thing. There already 2 things open has over Solo. Wings and soon to be Crew members.
True, although both are also implemented in the other multi-player mode.
Well not really counting other multiplayer mode because there a lot of different type of multiplayer modes if you think about it.
1 Dedicated Groups that use it to practice their combat
2 Mobuis it PvE or version in different countries
3 Then there multiplayer modes that dedicated to countries or locations because of language barrier.
If ANYONE demands that we take certain gameplay out of solo then I demand a reduction in price for the game if I play solo. As others have said, we already have content that cannot be used in solo play such as wings and multi-crews and unless FD code in NPC's to do that task for solo players, I feel cheated that I have paid the full price for a game that I am not getting all the content for.
As I have said many times before: I play solo only because I have to, I never wanted an online version of Elite at all and backed it purely on RB's promise of an offline single player version. If FD ever decide to take their server down, none of us will be able to play the game we paid for. Let's face reality here, the economy isn't so good that ANY company can give a 100% assurance that it won't go bust.
It all comes down to the age old problem that EVERY online game has. PVP and PVE cannot co-exist on the same server no matter how hard you try, one will always cause problems for the other. It has therefore always been best to separate them onto different servers completely so they do not interact. Single player offline would have done this and then, you could have the online server for open only.I haven't personally been a part of the no fly zone...
But the fact that this has actually happened, and the players have had to resort to destroying other members of their faction, just to try and combat a problem with the system is very telling.
I don't know what should be done...
A bonus in open....
Restricting PP to open...
..?
But it seems, to me, that something needs to be done.
From what I've gathered, the consolidation vote system was a step in the right direction, but it's not enough...
Powerplay needs some love. [heart]
Single player offline would have done this and then, you could have the online server for open only.
But then you're back to the problem of several game modes conflicting. It's just not possible to have 3 games modes like this affecting 1 state without causing the problems we have now between the modes. That would have pleased some (the Offline mode was added well after the three game modes, single shared galaxy state and mode mobility were announced at the very start of the Kickstarter) - however every player bought (or backed) a game where every player affects and experiences the single shared evolving galaxy state, not a game where the only one game mode that affects the galaxy.

A battle isn't a battle unless both sides can actually see each other but to enable that to happen, you would have to abolish solo and group modes. Doing that would annoy a lot of people who play solo, myself included. I would hazard a guess that ED would lose more than half its players instantly if we were all forced into open with no alternative.
There are ONLY two options here that would keep all players happy.
#1. Create a solo offline version of ED that solo players could play. This still means that players who switch between open and solo could still log in to play in open.
#2. Create a second server that has no open play where players can play solo or group all the time.
Personally, I'd go for the first option since I'm no fan of online games and it also allows sales to players who don't have internet or have sketchy connections but would want to play this game. The additional sales from an offline single player version would certainly help.
In a game that is not based on PvP (although it is possible, it is certainly not required) there is no need to directly oppose other players - by design. The three modes (that all share the same galaxy state) have been a core part of Frontier's design from the very beginning - why should they change that now?
The options offered would not keep all players happy.
I was under the impression that PowerPlay was intended to be a PvP mode with PvE activities...
Hence the competition between powers, the basis for it is PvP.
I agree that playing in open should have an advantage to playing in a group or solo. Perhaps the amount of merits gained by for example fighting powerplay NPCs in open should be increased. However, it might be difficult to make the system fool proof as one can simply change from open to solo all the time. I have no clear solution for that besides as some mentioned restricting powerplay all together to open only,
Player vs Player have a advantage. You ever heard of Wing in solo play? NO. it one player one ship vs a wing of NPC. Soon it will be Solo play. While Open has Wing and Crew members.
Ya and you can make a Private group for just PvP. Face the fact. Open and private grops has advantages over solo mode so stop with the lame excuses to make a buff for Open mode.Eh? You can bring your friends to Private Group (which is Solo with benefits of other players) and be in a wing very easily.

What? Why would you make a private group for PvP if you do not want to do PvP? What you said changes absolutely nothing about what I said.
