i gave in, leveled 4th crewmember to just off deadly. and guess what happened...

i swore i wouldnt lvl another crewmember after losing 3, but i gave in when i saw one with the name ashlee ashley, i got her to nearly deadly rating, was merit farming with a friend, when i noticed the time, i had to go pick up my son from school, i could have sworn i had logged out to the main menu, but when i got back, i was dead, 26 million rebuy on corvette 1250 merits gone, but worst of all ashlee is now dead. i dont think i can do it again. frontier i will pay real money to you to buy a lifepod for my crewmembers. please

Lol unlucky.

I can only assume you was still classed as "in danger" when you tried to quit, which brings up the annoying timer.

FD need to do two things.

1) fix the (legal) combat log dialogue, so you quit, confirm the quit, and after 15 seconds it logs out.
Real life does call, and postmen tend not to wait 15 second. Lol

2) give us, atleast a chance, a way to recover lost crew using missions.

I am sorry for your loss, When is the funeral?
Now I look after my jocks :)

I would suggest one of two things:

1. Don't get attached to them (yes this is the cold, hard, 'they are an asset' method)
2. Employ two or three and rank them all up. If you lose one in the line of duty, you still have the other two and can start with a fresh one

For my part, I have one pilot who I have slowly taken from Harmless to 30% Competent. I only have a SLF on my 'Trade (ha, it eats Elite NPC Condas alive) Cutter' and I only use that for BGS stuff in my home cluster. But if she ever goes, she goes. I'll miss her, but won't be cut up over it.

Maybe after running a billion tons of advanced medicine, you could bring one back...

i dont know what to say to you, my corvette is all A rated, only military grade armor though, but everything else is A spec. all 15 percent discounted maybe that has something to do with it.

Wouldn't it be boring if they were invincible like us?

there is plenty of stuff in elite to do, without having to spend hour after hour leveling a crewmember up again and again. its not like it only takes an hour, to get them to elite, it takes DAYS, humans only live to 100ish, we dont have that many days to waste.

How did your Anaconda get so expensive? Unless you're putting the ridiculously expensive armor it would be hard to get a Conda more than around 25-27 mil even with everything A-rated and using expensive beam turrets. As soon as you put the reactive or mirrored armor on the ships that adds another 180-230 mil costs (with discount) or around 9-12 mil reuby and can get the Conda or Corvette into the 35-42 mil reuby range but I assume you're not doing that since you can add much more hull and module protection simply with HRP/MRP modules at low cost anyways.

My Anaconda is around 20 mil reuby with an undersized 7A PP, a larger 8A PP would put it around 25 mil rebuy, but the smaller PP improves jump range and speed as well as rebuy costs. There's a cost difference of around 100 million and a 40 ton weight difference between the 7A and 8A PPs which is substantial on a ship that is used for long range travel like the Conda. The smaller PP does limit me to using class C shield boosters for my Conda unless I wanted to overcharge the PP but I currently have a low emissions mod on the PP to keep the ship running cool to handle the 5B SCBs and don't want to take a large heat penalty to fit class A shield boosters. I'd rather keep my Conda's jump range above 30 ly and the rebuy at 20 mil with the smaller PP.

My Corvette is around 30 mil rebuy and uses an 8A PP since it's usually not worth going with an undersized PP because you generally want to maximize the benefits of the Covette's excellent shields which means several power-hungry class A shield boosters. If I undersized the PP to 7A it would be around 25 mil rebuy and would slightly improve jump range which is currently around 18 ly. In order to use a 7A PP however I would need to overcharge the smaller PP and I prefer the low emissions mod I have on my 8A PP which helps keep the ship cool when using the 5B SCBs. In this case the impact on jump range with the heavier PP doesn't matter as much for the Corvette (which is around 60% heavier than the Conda and will only have a moderate jump range at best) so I'd rather take the reuby and weight penalty for the Corvette by using an 8A PP.

If I maxed out my Conda (using an 8A PP) at 25 mil and made my Corvette as lean as possible (using a 7A PP) at 25 mil they would have similar reuby costs, but that would be an expensive Conda vs. an inexpensive Corvette. Although the Corvette would still have the edge in combat even with the smaller PP you would really be limiting the Corvette's full combat potential which sort of defeats the purpose of using it over the Anaconda to begin with.

I say that its fine for them to kill our crew if they change the way they rank up so I only have to do it three times. Something like, harmless to expert are always the same pay cut, and everyone has access, but above expert you need to train pilots before the pilots federation allows you to hire more of your own.
That way, after you lose an elite pilot, you can buy another one for 10million or something and theyll still only get 10%.

I wonder about this. Yes got mirrored armour on the 'Conda, everything A Rated and best possible module. I turreted Beam Class 3, most of the stuff bought at - 15 % , rebuy at 27 mill. credits..
As for outfitting choices, its basically a battle wagon, jumprange 23 LY, everything grade 5 modded, fighter bay with Dangerous jock, I use almost all power generated, most weapons OC and thermal/corrosive and yes a SCB class 5 does make it interesting, thinking of storing it, I have so far ever only lost one shield ring in combat, haz rez, hi rez.

Cheers Cmdr's

Just resist the urge to level a cremate up. I'm always using a hire&fire expert level crew. On the upside I can fire him/her any time before cashing anything in and keep all the money for myself  Well, at least I could, if I didn't keep forgetting it :(
