Monday Madness: Diamonds are a CMDR's best friend!

Welcome CMDR's,

I trust you all had a great weekend... But now it's Monday and time for the serious stuff to take over like work and 'stuff', well fear not because once again Bran is here to help wash away the Monday Blues!

last week I asked you to post images/video's of your Cobra's and that thread went really well so this week a bit more of the same except this week it's the Diamondback's turn, both of them!

If you have a DBX or DBS that you'd sleep with if possible (Perhaps you already do but please, no images of that, Mr Phillips might get frisky! :D). Show us your skins if you have any fitted you never know, it might just inspire others to pimp their ride a little.

The DB's get used for a whole range of things so show us your best and most memorable times with the DB's...

I used to own a DBX long ago in another life but alas I have nothing to show for this thread, show me what I'm missing out on!

Over to you folks, keep it clean and have fun!

I bought 7 DBEs yesterday.
No, I haven't gone completely gaga. I'm running out of module storage space and I had a bunch of arsenic to use up, so I'm upgrading the FSDs on these DBEs. I'll keep 2 or 3 when 2.3 gives them the buff, but the others I'll use the drives on my Orca, Clipper, FAS, FDS and FGS.

My favorite ship so far, the DBS

I did some engineers on it this weekend;

I upgraded my two enforcers MC with G5 overpowered. On my best roll i took the corrosive special effect, i need to go back there once i have more modified embedded firmware.
A modest G3 low emissions powerplant and a G5 faster FSD boot sequence (btw i noticed it charge faster only for supercruise, the charging speed for jumping between two systems seems to remain the same, am I missing something ?)
And also a G5 heavy duty armor for my military grade composite armor.

I still need to collect tons of stuff

No picture, i'm at work at the moment... and you know what's worse ? ... yes, it's monday

Ah, the Diamondback Explorer.
Whatever task needs to be done the Diamondback Explorer can handle it.

The reality is less glossy and glorious. The DBX is a workhorse, a ship to get things done. Long jump range, long travel distance without refueling and enough cargo space for many tasks at the edge of the bubble or for exploration.

Everybody at the stations tells me I should get her a new paint.
But I don't care. It's what's inside that counts and not the pretty looks.

45 ly jump-range, 44 ly jump-range with 16t cargo
max 32t cargo (I only fly with shields, good shields)
more than 300 ly range without re-fueling
438 m/s top speed
3 plasma accelerators
can equip cargo and passenger modules
ADS, DSS, SRV - all optional modules keept in storage

I currently have two DBX's. One is called Daisy, she's the workhorse, cheap and doesn't really get much attention or looked after. But she's reliable and gets the job done every time. My other DBX is called Irene, she's fitted with an overcharged large fixed multicannon, two lots of rapid fire dumbfire missiles and all the hull reinforcements. With the khaki paint she's as close to a Space-Apache as I can get. I enjoy flying the DBX, it has a charm all to itself and it's always a welcome change to jump into one and let it bring a smile to my face.

*edit - post below reminded me, I got a DBX up to 55LY range without much fuss in the 2.3 beta. And an extra slot too. Just a shame the cockpit isn't a tandem layout, I'd like to take it out exploring when 2.3 hits live and have people come out with me.

Here's a shot of the DBX I owned about a year ago. I haven't owned one for quite some time.

However, I recently checked out a new DBX in beta, to see how the changes affected it, and I'm quite pleased with it. Jump range is amazing now, and the extra internal makes it possible to take everything you'd want for exploring.

So, I may get another one, once 2.3 goes live.

I've always really liked the ship.

I have both... My explorer is setup as a general mission runner, weapons, armor, SRV, and cargo space. With a 35+ly jump range she can quickly cross the bubble and the DD5 thrusters allows her the ability to pick at choose her fights. Decked out in purple she's a classy lady.

The scout is a blast to fly and I'm still working on her. But with DD5 thrusters, long range FSD the Nasty Gnat is a great little scoop and scoot mission runner.

The new jump range does make it a more attractive ship... but I just can't see past the pig ugly space frame.

Too bad it doesn't have a second seat in the back, because with that jump range it can be quite a solitary ship.

I love the sound of the thrusters in it :) I use a stripped down DBX for engineering weaps and general biffing about. The jump range is just shy of 50 ly and it runs super cool so it turns out to be very handy for running passenger missions for Crime Lords too. At the moment I prefer it to the AspX. It's not 'better'. I just seem to enjoy it right now :)

It's one of the few ships I haven't purchased a paint pack for tho

The FSD Faster Boot Sequence mod decreases the time for the FSD to be "online" if it is powered off. It has no effect on the charging to jump.

Mine are both stock so it's no really worth posting up pictures, I'm afraid.

Both my DBs get used for very specific purposes though.

My DBX is THE ship I use to go chasing after tip-offs.
Big jump-range, toughness and a reasonable number of slots means it's ideal for getting somewhere quickly, being able to deploy an SRV, recover and store loot and then fight or run away as the situation requires.
Also, it's toughness combined it's decent thrust/weight ratio means that investigating tip-offs on high-G planets isn't quite as scary as it might be.

My DBS is my engineering mat's collector.
It's not exactly a glamourous job but, again, the DB's toughness means it's ideal for investigating USS's which might turn out to be hostile.
It's manoeuvrable which makes picking up mat's easy and I have it fitted with a single cargo rack just in case I stumble across something valuable amongst the wreckage.

It was a brief affair and it was a good while back, but we shared some nice times out in the void.
