Something's Changed in the HazRes

... see subject. Playing solo.

Until yesterday I never lasted in a HazRes for more than 3 minutes before having to depart the area post haste lest I be blown into space dust. I fly a python hull tanked. Shield strength 711 and hull of 1728. 2 3C-MC/G, 2 Class 2 2F/T Burst Lasers and a 3CG or maybe a 3A don't remember off the top of my head, Beam Laser.

Yesterday I not only lasted more than 3 minutes I earned about a million credits in less than 1/2 an hour. Fluke I thought to myself. So I took a break and handled a few missions hauling freight and after a while upon returning home stopped off at the local hazres and repeated the performance. Went to home station, repaired (no module damage - just hull integrity), restocked and refueled. Went back and earned 1/2 a mil in about 15 minutes and then got froggy and took on a 3 ship wing with Clippers in it. Why is that important - I hate clippers. For some reason I have mucho trouble taking them out. Not a big fan of Vultures or FDS' either. Everything else get cutup pretty quick. Anyway - that 3 ship Clipper wing lost 2 of it's members before I ran out of shield cells and heat sinks and una.ssed the area. They whittled most of my modules down to the low 90's - barely scratched my hull though which I found strange(????).

Fights took place in Lidpar where currently there is a CG I'm participating which made me wonder, since I'm not doing anything different than any other time, if NPC's are maybe dumbed down for CG's? It was too easy to do what is normally very difficult for me - re: hanging in a HazRes.

So - what else could it be? I'm not better - believe me - combat may be my main mode of play but I kind'a suck at it - compared to most. After over 2 years I'm still only Master rated. So if it's not me and it's not my ship it's got to be something FD has done.

But what??? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yer i dunno when it happend but hazres is weak now and has been since I came back to the game at Xmass.
It used to have no security, now it does.
Used to have wings of upto 10 I had seen, now most you see is 3.

Very weak now. Not hazardous at all.
Lets hope something changes in the update.

The spawns could be related to the influences of the factions involved. For example, if the pirate faction has 1%, it won't field as many pirates.

Just a guess though.

Hmm, my FDL has ~925-940 on both shields and hull and I can sit in the hazres for a good while. I just don't attack wings and Anacondas (damn fighters), 1v1s only will keep my chain going for maybe an hour before I sit and wait for shields to regenerate 100%. (I'm not saying I'm good, otherwise I would be doing what the OP is doing :) ) Maybe give me some tips so I can be as good as you :(

I would say you have got better at fighting.
my first experience in cz were mainly short stints.
after I realised how to deal with enemies and survive, I can now stay in a cz until I have no materials left for munitions, many hrs of fun dealing death..though I haven't done any in a while because I'm out in the black. returning to the bubble.
my main tip would be stay close to the pack of allies while you attack a ship, stay on the one ship until dead. if you are attacked by other ships your allies will help you, if you somehow drift away from the pack and have multiple bogies on you, jump out of cz turn around drop back in. repair if needed, regen shields and go in and deal some more death...
hasz go in with no cargo. no ship will attack you. only the one that are in a wing will. if you cant cope with 3 ships leave them alone. or wait until they are attacked by another and then sneak in and take them out.

I've found inconsistencies with RES/CZ. I can spend an hour and not lose a ring of shields, I leave to rearm, come back to the same RES/CZ and get mauled in seconds.

Not a bad thing, IMHO. Certainly makes life interesting.

Luck of the draw, I'd say.

My clipper normally holds out pretty well in a HazRES, so long as I pick my targets well, remember to drop PIPs into shields, and don't hit any rocks. However, every now and then(just last night, in fact), it feels like I'm constantly up against Deadly and Elite FASs, FDLs and Anacondas.

Every instance is different. From low-ranked Eagles to Elite-Wings of 3 or 4 big ships I have seen everything. It doesnt depend on the BGS from my point of view, it´s just a random thing that changes with every time you restart the instance.

I think they have become weaker. I recall at one point it was relatively common to find wings of 3 x Elite Conda or the like.. however when I did a bunch of RZ/Comp Nav more recently it was just lots of lower ranking ships and the odd big one on it's own. Comp NAV definitely has more elites than Haz Rez but even there there isn't the same wings of big ships that I used to like fighting.

EDIT: By the way OP SCB taking is the way to go in a Python. You'll find that with thermal bi-weave shields and SCBs you can last forever in a Haz rez compared to if you hull tank.

You're probably not carrying expensive things in your hold. Any of the engineers stuff ( modular terminals, micro-weave cooling hoses, etc ) seems to be even worse then gold.

Even in my A-spec, RNGineered, Corvette I have a rough time in a CZ if I have a few tons of mats or gold in the hold. Last time I made the mistake of doing that I got jumped in the first 15 seconds by an elite anaconda in a wing of 3, including a clipper. Inside of two minutes that wing was joined by a few more pirates.. What started as a challenge, turned rough, and then as more piled on it became a death sentence. I'd also add in compromised nav beacons. Those turn nasty in a heartbeat if you have mats/goods in the hold.

Showing up empty, I can loiter all day long and choose my fights in a HazRES or CompNavBeacon.

Nah, they moved to the Threat 4 USS's. I hopped into one the other day with my Annie and came F2F with a trio of Elite Annies. That didn't last long. :D

RES sites can be really inconsistent in their difficulty levels. I can go one day feeling like the King of PvE against Elite Anacondas and wings of other high ranked ships in my Python, just raking in the millions, and then the next day almost suffer humiliating defeat at the hands of a single particularly slippery FGS not 10 minutes into the session.

When I play on my own in a Haz RES I don't see any system security ships whatsoever, as it should be. However, I think there's something a bit screwy with it when it comes to Wings, because whenever I'm playing in a Wing, the HazRES is so full of pigs it smells like bacon. Similarly in a Wing, I've noticed there's often barely any wanted ships around at all, only police and very low levelled criminals in small ships - not so when I'm on my own, half the time.

I don't think HazRES have gotten weaker particularly, I think it's more to do with the RNG, and instancing issues.
