DBS fo life!

Back in the days when it was freshly bought and had that new ship smell:

When I started I went sidewinder, Eagle, Type-6, DBX, ASP, DBX.

All the stats say the ASP out preforms the DBX, but except top speed with the cargo door open, the DBX seems to out maneuver the ASP. Being a full time miner, and weekend Explorer, the ASP is my mining barge, and the DBX is still my explorer ship.
Waiting for the new DBX stats to kick in. Then the ASP will be left behind.

Diamondbacks remind me of Russian Helicopters. Specially the Mil Mi-8s and the Mil Mi-24s.

Never owned one in Elite, might give a try after the new update.

I have my DBX since the Wolf 406 DB introduction CG. Including the original Purer Water water purifier.

Hadn't been around during these, I'm afraid - I've bought the game in late May 2015 during Steam sale.

DBE sucked as explorer since Horizons launched - you couldn't fit a full explorer suite to it. And it also kinda sucked as bubble ship, since Asp offered better jump range. All changed in 2.3 - DBE now has 2nd jump range, and it can achieve it with 4A engines and PD that not only enables boost but makes it actually usable. 50 Ly with G5 FSD range mod - easy. Basically the best ship for bubble traveling\base scanning\material gathering. Asp can achieve 50 Ly, but it would be an ultralight build with weak engines.

Sometimes things get to a certain point of ugliness and start to develop a certain charm and beauty of their own.

DBX is one of those types of machines, at least it is for me.

Couple of example builds I through together after reading that - wanted to go for 'full' builds rather than stripped down (although I have lightweight modded everything I can), and yep, a Diamondback in Beta specs easily hits 50 LY.

Interesting.

The only real difference are the second AFMU, and a massive price difference.
