Hello fixed rails, where ya been all my life?

Now you have found the rails, get yourself aligned with Arissa Lavigny-Duval chick (Just for 4 weeks) and get the Imperial Hammers. Harder to master than the Rails, as they fire off 3 shots instead of the single shot so you have to stay on target longer, but ever so satisfying. Oh and get them engineered for Long Shot Penetrator !!

Enjoy

Fixed rails my ***, he killed himself colliding repeatedly with you.

Two Small Engineered rails with penetrator mod and premium ammo took out his shields, and Mr. Momentum did the rest. BTW, the two Medium cannons didn't event dent his shields. So yeah, I'm sticking to rails from now on.

At 1:07 you took half of first ring with a shot, all the rest with a collision. Then at 1:27, half of the last ring and 44% of hull went down from a collision. Then with shots you brought him from 56% to 47% hull, and then he died from a collision.

So the total is 1) half of the third ring, 2) one ring and 3) 9% of the hull. All the rest: three collisions.

Enjoy your fixed rails, but in this fight you showed us they haven't done much. 1,5 rings and 91% of the hull - collisions.

Lol, the rails did less than 10% total damage. It was just a novice in a Vulture who kept colliding into you. Why even bother attacking a novice cmdr btw? :S

Rails are great though, keep practicing!

I've also recently fallen in love with rails. Had a ton of fun with them on my FAS, right before I gained Empire rank for the Achenar engineer. Which also got me the iCourier, that I fitted with 3 rail guns.

If you're a Fed pilot, there's nothing more satisfying than a Gutamaya ship going up in flames after a single salvo. Who cares if you're flying it? :p

Never been any other kind of Rails except Fixed as far as I know.

There's a time and place for each type of weapon though.

Gimbals and Turrets are great on large ships with garbage pitch, roll or yaw - though I do like a pair of turret frag cannons on my FdL so I can aim my rails and not worry about what the cannons are doing.

Yep, this is my analysis of the vid too, it was really all about ramming. You rammed a Vulture with a Viper and the Vulture came off worse.. I can only assume his shields were terrible because:

1. You had less mass and should have come off worse from the rams.
2. You didn't have 4 pips in shields when you rammed him, you only had 1.
3. All things being equal a Vulture should have bigger shields than a Viper.

My guess. His being Novice probably indicates that he doesn't have engineered shields, and probably doesn't even have A rated shields.

EDIT: The one thing he did have going for him is that he's clearly a fan of the book Red Rising which is awesome :)

Hercules is probably stocked up on hrp for classic Tank Viper4, it'll ram anything in half. :)

Looked like the novice cmdr interdicted him so game on

Agreed, I don't think the Vulture interdicted the OP to chat about the winter is coming! Game on and BTW ramming is a good a Hardpoint as any, in fact better sometimes, so like, whats wrong with a good ole ram!

FD wrecked rails by adding an insane amount of heat to them, was a shame because they were balanced by their skill requirement and delayed trigger.

Its a real pity that you cant roll an efficiency engineer on them either.
