Black Markets closed?

I am wanting to get access to the Dweller and need to access the 5 black markets, but it seems like they are all disabled. Why is that?

Guessing off the top of my head, you could be in systems/stations where the controlling faction doesn't allow for black markets. Similarly, don't certain Powers shut down the black markets too?

I don't believe that system state changes can affect markets, excepting lockdown. Can a BGS guru help us out?

I'm not sure. I know that I smuggled in stuff to Fujin before (I got fined for it), but now it's disabled. *shrug*

The System Map for Fujin shows that the Futen Spaceport Black Market is Disabled.

Current State - Retreat - Not sure if that's the cause or not.

Thanks GJ51. Im only running back and forth for Fujin Tea for Broo. My base of operations is lower in the bubble. I used the link you provided and found stations near me that should work. =D

Various goverment types disable black markets. Patronage, dictatorship, corporate, feudal, possibly some others as well.

My problem with this as a blanket statement is that the tabulated data in my thread above shows counter examples of every type.

I thought Alliance shut down Black Markets.
I thought dictatorships shut down Black Markets.
But there's an Alliance Dictatorship with a Black Market out at Mahon Research Base.

And that's my problem.
Everyone has these rules of thumb, but for any rule you can say "Yeah but" [counter example]
Is there RNG at work?
A heirachy of weighted modifiers and a layer of RNG?

Ask the UA bombers. I understand there is a dirty protest occurring regarding something.

Just last night I paid a fortune in stolen LTDs for a hundred meta Alloys to inoculate a strategic station. It took me about half an hour to gather them and my mode switching contact a day to gather the Alloys plus an hour to transfer them. Not sure how long the bombers take to dose a station but it's a bit of a waste of everyone's time.

Oh and if anyone wants to farm barnacles during this difficult time I'd be happy to take them off your hands. Good rates of pay. Contact me in game or on the forums.

And if any UA bombers are reading this thread could you be so kind as to contact me regarding agreeing a neutral zone? I operate in quite a small area of space and knocking all BMs out in that area would achieve little with regards your overall aims.

Otherwise I will be loading stations up with Meta's and you will be loading up with UA's and all of us will be achieving nothing but putting in quite a lot of effort.

It's only a blanket statement insofar as a player can make a blanket statement on something that isn't officially documented. My (unspourced) post is based 100% on empirical evidence, it's entirely possible and in fact expected that there are exceptions I'm not yet aware of. Still my experience with the game so far points to what I said.

Does why even matter?

Need a Black market? Go to https://eddb.io/station and look up the nearest one.

You can also then check the System Map to make sure it's not disabled, but it seems to be a bit of a rare event.

I don't get hung up on the "why" of things, I just focus on what I need to do to accomplish my goal and move on. There are just too many things that don't make sense to get bogged down in the weeds instead of just forging onward and doing what you want to do.

Just me, I suppose...

YMMV

It matters because you can spend your entire game time running around with a hold full of illegal goods trying to find a place to offload them. You get to a location listed on eddb.io to find it shut down. Meanwhile, you're being interdicted by security plus pirates as you are forced to go from place to place. It's a royal P.I.T.A. to spend your time hunting on GalMap / SysMap instead of doing what you want.

All BM's in my area have been shut down for some time. The logic that any government type can stifle BM trade is just silly. Reduce, yes, but not stop it. The more draconian the local government, the more BM opportunities there should be. If there is a need and it cannot be handled legally, someone will pop up to accommodate you.

Yeah, I have never understood the logic that ED uses for blackmarkets. Same goes for states like lockdown. Fair enough the legal market gets closed, but hungry people are going to get food wherever they can, and where there is a demand a supply is likely to pop up. So lockdowns should make blackmarkets appear for the duration, so should famine.

Very much agreed, and theres an opp for Fd to have BM ships one can low wake to sell (auto transfer mechanic I guess) illegal goods (which is just about anything out there still) when the station BM is disabled for god knows what reason.

Also, when a lockdown happens reflecting the attempt to squelch civilian protest and outrage of that factions actions , why not allow for the option somehow for that faction to lose power if the lockdown continues which would represent civilian momentum and intent for change. It could be that when lockdown is on and the BM appears as L Lizard suggested, sold items would lower that factions influence which in effect would be how the people economically strike back

Yep, most of them seem disabled...

Been searching through the database and galaxy/system maps for two hours. I have found one black market that was open. All the rest are disabled .

UPDATE: so after a couple days of working on this I finally figured out that many of the empire control systems seem to lock down the black market. I flew to the Federation controlled area and all of them were open!
