Then I went down rabbit hole two. The mention above about 256 made me think of an octet 11111111. I remembered the Sidewinder Pilot said that "Exodus" was in the BIOS. I don't know assembly, but going with an assumption of a binary theme, I translated it to binary:

01111000 x 120
01101111 o 111

01110101 u 117
01110011 s 115

Well, three sets of two right?
a * b, c * d, e * f
8280, 7548, 13445

Except y isnt valid in this case, so...
a * b, c - d, e * f
8280, 43, 13445

Flip the galaxy to have it "hang":
-8280, -43, -13445

Didn't someone just do this in an earlier post this week?

I like the kimnanual handout on where to look, who controls the gal map, as military installations are normally deliberately removed from maps, so this blank square you mention may be a clue, though how you can jump into a blank area will be difficult....

to anyone that explored the space above EAFOTS Rift Settlement. How high have you gone on the Y axis before you had to return for jump injections and how many T3 Jump injection you had to use?

I never remember which letter (x,y,z) refers to which axis, I assume you mean vertically though, in which case 1 of the highest I went to was Myoidee AH-B D14-1 (which is right next to Eafots systems) I also explored a bunch of systems just a little lower than that 1. I don't know exactly how far that system is from the 4 beacons, but I think it was in the region of 800 LYs, and they only took 1-2 T3 injections (1 way).

If you go with the default view of the GalMap when you open it, x is left-right(ish) horiontal, y is vertical, z is forward-and-back(ish) horizontal. I think the ceiling I reached was between 800-900lys +y from EAFOTS, with a good number of White Dwarf systems up there. Used 4 or so T3 jumponium, but I also wasted a lot of that.

I think the furthest I went up in the area was this one https://www.edsm.net/en/system/id/6392058/name/Eafots+NN-Q+d6-0 . Neutron with earth-like. I did require just one T3 jump. I did not want to risk much more without a base in the area which is coming in 2.3 :)

Hm. Phaethon means "the shining one", was the son of Eos - Born in Syria. Also, Planet Juptier was called "Phaeton". 3200 Phaethon is an Asteroid, with a very unusual elliptic rotational period around the sun...

Salomé was also born in Syria.

Will it go down in SOL? Right at the heart of the federation...?

Edit: Another titbit about 3200 Phaethon

"It was named for Phaethon, son of Helios, god of the sun, and the mortal princess Clymene, who, when he discovered who his father was, traveled to his home to see him, and persuaded Helios against his better judgment to let him drive the chariot of the sun for one day. Phaethon couldn't control the horses of the chariot and they ran wild across the sky, setting fires down on the Earth, and Zeus was forced to kill Phaethon with a thunderbolt to keep the Earth from getting burned up."

Also, according to wikipedia: "Phaeton (hypothetical planet), a hypothetical fifth planet believed to have once existed between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter and whose destruction supposedly led to the formation of the asteroid belt"

More fun facts - After his death Phaethon was placed amongst the stars as the constellation Auriga ("the Charioteer").

Also among other interesting stuff his mother was Klymene (Merope) and his father was Sol (Helios) :)

So "phaeton's reach" might correspond to Mars, Jupiter, Asteroid belt or Auriga; "path of souls" seems to be an allusion to the afterlife, so I suspect Persephone&/or Pluto is involved, but could it also be some geographical feature on Mars?; and then there's the puzzlegram "DB-IB f-i(0) T-1319 SUM(10,7,5,3)" which is rather confuisng, though the last term seems to be "25"
