I would like to announce the successful transmission of a special Two-Part Episode 6 of the SHEPARD Chronicles, a video transmission from Cmdr Parabolus - the Expedition Leader of the SHEPARD Mission.

Part 1: In this first of a special two-part episode, Cmdr Parabolus broadcasts from a region of space he discovered called the Beatle Burial Grounds, a unique region of space near the Beatle Nebula on the far side of the galactic core. This episode also covers the route of Leg-3 from Beagle Point to Beatle Nebula, including a long and difficult path across the Abyss, and systems such as P.O.D.A.R. and Lone Star.

Part 2: In this second of a special two-part episode, Cmdr Parabolus broadcasts from Vera's Last Jump in the Beatle Nebula at waypoint 19. In this episode Cmdr Parabolus transmits data on his newly discovered 'Juno,' a record breaking Class I Gas Giant and the largest on record in Universal Cartographics. Parabolus also reveals the truth about the origin of the Beatle Burial Grounds, providing copious evidence proving that the large scattering of Red Giants and Carbon Stars actually originated in the Beatle Nebula itself, and were jettisoned during a catastrophic series of eruptions almost 13 billion years ago, shortly after the formation of the Milky Way itself. This episode also features a dramatic 1.2km long canyon jump with Cmdr AtomicUnicorn.

Thank so much CMDR, please do keep making them, brilliant work.

Pretty epic cmdr, must of taken quite some work. Subscribed !

Flimley

Thanks! Yeh but one of my favorite parts about the mission is to record it for the future....

If you are interested, the whole series started at Sol on November 5th, just refer to episode 1 for an overview and the path thus far:

Thanks... that whole Beatle Burial Grounds thing is coming your way for the Galactic Mapping Project, when we return on May 5th along with all the other SHEPARD discoveries!!!

I expect us to be quite busy for a LOOONG time processing all the data you are going to collect :D

Those videos of yours are really quite remarkable. They really show off both the beauty of this game, and the spirit of group exploration and community cooperation.

Just rewatched the first of the SHEPARD chronicles - the scale of that mission is just so BIG! (And this comes from one who suggested the 180.000 LY Sagittarius-Carina mission to his fellow FGE members). But the scale of SHEPARD is not only in the distance travelled, but even more so in the ambition for systematic data collection. I gotta say that Im pretty excited about this.

Thanks again for the kind words! Yeh tbh the aspect of the mission I was most looking forward to (other than the 6hr Endurance SRV Race near Sag A) was the discovery and mapping of a unique sector - providing contributions to the galactic mapping project. As a collective we have found so many incredible areas, systems, and formations that normally may have gone unnoticed during 'faster' group expeditions. The SHEPARD Cmdrs are playing the role of the Tortoise, slowly gathering data, which in the end will form a more compete collective understanding of our Milky Way. I'm getting excited just thinking about all our great discoveries and sharing them with the Galactic Mapping Project, and we still have 1 month left!

Yeh talk about big. We have travelled 2.5 million LY, just about the distance to Andromeda Galaxy! Which is quite remarkable considering this starting as a small expedition, and only about 40% of our original fleet has survived!

Excellent! Really nice vids - a joy to watch.

Very interesting and quite relaxing at the same time. Well done!

***Episode 7 is Released!!!***

Finally, after more than four weeks, episode 7 of the Shepard Chronicles, a video transmission from the Expedition Leader of the SHEPARD Mission, is live!!! In this episode Cmdr Parabolus continues his epic sequence of discoveries on the far side of the galactic core. Parabolus broadcasts a complex 40-minute video covering the week between Waypoint 19 and Waypoint 21 - an undiscovered portion of the Perseus Stem loaded with unique and unknown astronomical events. In this episode Parabolus discusses at length the creation of Neutron Stars and their rarer siblings, pulsars. Moreover, Parabolus discloses three of the five planetary nebula he discovered in this rich region - including one with a high-metal content planet displaying signs of erupting volcanoes and lava as seen from orbit. Before departing Magnus Nebula for the galactic climb at Waypoint 22, Parabolus also ponders the fundamental questions of life: "who are we, where did we come from?"
